This problem evaporates overnight if we make it ten years hard time for business owners who hire illegals. Of course they'll scream bloody murder about having to pay Americans a better wage.
All business owners do not lie sheat and steal, dawg. You assume that all business owners are against the law. I say expose them and let them go tits up.

I assume nothing of the kind, you're reading that in on your own. The fact is that without the illegals here wages go up.

It is a great thing for free labor to be able to demand and get fair wages.

There's probably 2 pages on why in this thread, but the long and short of it is this: the Feds have the sole power to regulate immigration and border control.

AFAIK this bill is about the enforcement of the Federal laws on immigration and border control.

I should have clarified - regulation and enforcement are the sole responsibility of the Federal government. The Fed's could delegate that power and they should, but they have not done so.

Plus, I'm pretty sure this bill makes it a state crime to to violate a law on an issue that the Feds have the sole power over.

Whether the Feds do it or not doesn't give the States the right to do it for Immigration.

Alphie read this statement 100-1000 times:

Arizona has elected Federal Congressman that are supposed to represent their interests in the Federal government. This is a Federal issue. Those people have the ability to change the way the Feds enforce the law. They haven't done so. The State Legislature isn't the right avenue.

I dont agree, if the Feds are not going to enforce a law that is destroying/bankrupting a state then the state has every right to defend itself.

Why should the state follow "the constitution/law" (as you put it) if our government isnt?

It is exactly the right avenue to take and more states need follow suit.

The Feds are not violating the Constitution at all here. Its either a policy or monetary decision to not enforce the Federal law to the extent you like. Either of those decisions is properly dealt with in Congress. Are you saying that it is OK for a State to violate the US Consitution becuase it does not agree with a policy decision of the Federal government? If so, then maybe we should let Arkansas keep its school segregated. Or Georgia to forbid interracial marriage?

Take a look at the big picture and step away from the hysteria that is currently surrounding everything in politics. I'd like to contend that Arizona isn't being bankrupted by illegal aliens and its not being destroyed by them either. The crime rate in Arizona is actually lower than it has been in 30+ years. Have a looksee for yourself
http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/dataonline/Sea ... yState.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If Arizona has problems, its attributable to the way Arizona is being run. Not the illegal aliens.

You sure are going out of your way to skirt the issue here.....................

If the federal government isnt going to do the one and only thing they truly should be involved in, then yes constitutional or not AZ should do what they are doing.

I wont even get into why your AZcrime stats are not accurate.

Frist, they're not my crime stats. They are the crime stats reported by Arizona law enforcement agencies to the FBI UCR. I'd love to hear you explain to me why the UCR isn't accurate. Perfect? Hell no. It can be imperfect and still accurate for these purposes.

Second, I'm not skirting around the issue at all. You say its OK to violate the Constitution if you don't agree with a policy decision. I'll remember that the next time you post about some liberal policy violating the Constitution.

Interesting sidebar: In the latest poll in AZ, 52% of those responding supported the bill, but here's the surprising part:

21% of HISPANICS polled supported the bill. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I bet if you asked them the generic question if they supported the enforcement of immigration laws you would get the exact same results.

Why can't the Feds just delegate this power to local law enforcement? Lazy bastards. :D

Here's the exact question that was asked:
Next, a new Arizona law may soon go into effect regarding one's U.S. citizenship status and right to be in the U.S. The new law would require police officers in Arizona to question anyone about their immigration status if an officer suspects the person may be in the country illegally, including anyone who looks or sounds foreign. Those found to be here illegally could be jailed up to six months and fined $2,500. Do you favor or oppose the governor signing such a law if it is sent to her by the legislature?
Despite the obvious errors in the question, 52% still supported it, including 30% of Democrats and 21% of Hispanics. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: So, apparently not ALL liberals are fucktards. Just the ones on this board....

That's interesting. Most politicians don't support immigration reform because they're spineless bastards and are worried about the Hispanic vote to get reelected. This poll seems to indicate they'd still have at least 21% of that vote.

Because its what would best serve the people of this nation that hired them to do that very thing.

Yeah..you're right. That's the exact opposite of anything that goes on in Washington or for that matter in any government agency (state legislatures and agencies included) these days.
