I'm not saying this is any sort of "shiny spot", just that it will be so incredibly easy to paint these guys as fringe radical lunatics that they become virtually un-electable in a general election. Baldy, we're saying the same thing. Rand (and Ron for that matter) Paul are the anti Ruplublican and Dem Pols. In other words, they're anti-politicians.

And what makes you think the fiscally responsible policy that won Paul the primary in such convincing fashion isn't popular in Louisville and other "civilized" areas? I think you're missing the point here - you don't need to be a racist or a dumm ass redneck to vote for fiscal conservatism and there are plenty of people who are apparently voting for that brand of political thought who aren't just a bunch of hillbillies that are missing teeth. Your disdain for the actual voters and your oversimplification of the fiscal restraint portion of the Tea Party movement is actually astounding - I suspect there's a reason why you don't actually work for one of these campaigns - very few campaigns are successful when they attack voters.OSBF wrote:You win Louisville and the other civilized metropolitan areas and you win the state. If the election was a national election that kind of a strategy would certainly work. But plenty of people in Kentucky readily identify with the fiscally restrained part of the Tea Party movement and would probably greatly resent the insinuation that their affiliation with that line of thinking automatically tars them as racist and, as you say, "dumm-ass rednecks". You can't really win a campaign by ridiculing the actual people who also just so happen to be voters.

Just saying "tea party" and showing depictions of the true radical lunatics in that group won't do it though. What has this guy done personally that he can be identified with the real whackos? And like I said, many people who like the fiscally responsible portion of the tea party movement and identify with that will be offended by saying that they too are in league with racists and lunatics. You'll just end up making them even more motivated to get out and vote - you'd basically be energizing the other guy's voters.OSBF wrote:I'm not saying this is any sort of "shiny spot", just that it will be so incredibly easy to paint these guys as fringe radical lunatics that they become virtually un-electable in a general election. You may be right but I ain't a tea bagger and the thing that I find the most disingenuous about the movement is the characterizations of the group that the liberals on here make of them. The odd thing is that while Bush was in power the Democratic poster made a lot of sense because they seemed focused on shit that was a lot more substantial. Now that Obama is in there they are biggest bunch of whacko's out there with a real lack of integrity.
I think I either just hate whoever is in power, or it could be that whoever's party is in power just sits there aplomb aside to defend whatever their team is doing.

You don't know who the radical lunatics actually are.OSBF wrote: I'm not saying this is any sort of "shiny spot", just that it will be so incredibly easy to paint these guys as fringe radical lunatics that they become virtually un-electable in a general election.
That's funny.

Re: Randslide
actually, i did work on a campaign that turned out pretty well, perhaps you've heard of this senator from Illinois named Obama? The painting of McSame/Faillan as dis-connected extreme radicals worked out OK in Illinois. We flooded the airwaves and print media with the FACT that as mayor of Wassila, AK, Sarah actually thought it was a fantastic idea to charge rape victims for the rape kit used in the investigation of the crime, and held them responsible for any emergency room bills. That was almost too easy.GannonFan wrote: - I suspect there's a reason why you don't actually work for one of these campaigns - very few campaigns are successful when they attack voters.
Currently I'm working with this guy:

He's up against a tea bagger backed fiscal conservative incumbant.

Since there is no thread about the election in Arkansas, it looks like Blanche Lincoln, even with a runoff election, will lose her seat. I say that because watching politics in this state for 30 years I've come to realize that if you don't OWN that seat outright, then you have trouble. Her last few days are here.
or will her ability to raise finances for her campaign in November be the difference? will it matter? Where will Morrison's 42,000 voters choose to vote? Either way it's
U.S. Senate DEM
99% Precincts Reporting Lincoln (i) 145,269 45%
Halter 138,701 42%
Morrison 42,372 13%
U.S. Senate GOP
99% Precincts Reporting Boozman 74,020 53%
Holt 24,281 18%
Baker 15,851 11%
Reynolds 7,054 5%
Coleman 6,886 5%
Hendren 5,502 4%
Alexander 4,276 3%
Ramey 1,861 1%
