You need to watch the DEA crime stats. Out here where marijuana dispensaries are popping up like Dominos Pizza, the Mexican Mafia has stepped up to the plate to control supply. In those areas, violent crime has skyrocketed and filtered into the suburbs. In SoCal and up through the Central Valley, drug related homicides and violence is setting records. The MM are unsophisticated wannabe's who shoot anyone who gets in their way, and don't hesitate to go head-to-head with local police.
From a Darwinist viewpoint, they're targeting mom-and-pop growers who were societal flotsam and jetsom anyway, so the survival of the fittest (or most violent) is playing out well.

Good news, though...

There were blood trails....he DID hit at least one of them. I'm guessin' that they didn't head to the nearest hospital, however so, much like the Viet Cong, we'll have to make some estimates as to body count. It WAS, however, ONE against SIX, so the fact that he's even alive is a miracle.

UPDATE: Law Enforcement Source Says Evidence Doesn't Support Account by Wounded Pinal County Sheriff's Deputy

Mum has been the operative word in recent days about the April 30 desert incident involving Pinal County sheriff's Deputy Louie Puroll.

Readers will remember this one: Sheriff Paul Babeu (in the photo) told the world that Puroll claimed to have been grazed by a bullet fired by a group of six or so AK-47-toting drug smugglers.

Babeu said his veteran deputy apparently happened upon the bad guys while patrolling alone in a remote locale south of Interstate 8 and west of Casa Grande.

No one yet has been charged in the highly publicized case.

We wrote a blog item on May 3, noting that current and retired law-enforcement types had contacted us with concern that several things stunk about the deputy's account (which was filtered through Sheriff Babeu and his staff).

A law enforcement officer familiar with details of the ongoing Arizona Department of Public Safety probe of the incident says, "That whole [crime] scene was just not right," adding that investigators "found zero evidence supporting [Puroll's] recollections of the incident."

Right. :coffee:
Your conclusion could be right, dawg. Could be a hoax. Could be a cover story.

On the other hand, your analysis doesn't cut the mustard. If the deputy survived a host of enemies toting AK-47's with only a sidearm, it would not be the first time, and definitely not the most spectacular example.

To set the record straight, consider the case of aircrewman Robert J. Thomas, awarded the Navy Cross for saving his wounded co-pilot's life and holding off dozens of enemies with AK-47's with nothing more than an M1911 .45 ACP sidearm, after their helicopter had been shot down and remained under fire. Wounded, R.J. took out his .45
and took careful aim as he shot at each attacking Viet Cong. About 30 minutes later it was all over, leaving 37 dead VC ranged from 3 to 150 yards from the downed helo.

We realize that marksmanship under fire is not a subject with which you are personally familiar, dawg, so maybe we should cut you some slack. Next time, consult the experts before offering an analysis.

If the bad guys were firing a lot of rounds, there would have been a shit load of brass cartridge cases laying around that they would not have been able to clean up under the deuputy's fire.

Nah, the "six or so" narcos ceased fire, policed up the brass under the deputy's fire, re-shouldered their marijuana bales, and vanished on foot from the area cordoned off by a hundred or so cops with jeeps and helicopters.

I read all the articles and "blog" rumors...

...while the blog "rumor" is that the Deputy's story is full of holes...

...I haven't read any "official" investigation results yet, so I'm reserving comment.

BTW, they did capture two shooters with AK-47's, and the supposed "lack" of brass really means nothing due to the range of the larger caliber. Sooo...

...while I'm sure the liberals are wringing their hands hoping that the Deputy was lying...

...so far, there's no proof to support that conclusion. I'll get back to you once the D.A. releases their report.

There's just so much that doesn't add up, T. The story keeps changing - there were five, no there were six. They were in a van, no they were on foot carrying 50 lb. bales of weed and AK-47s. The deputy left his car and was patrolling alone on foot, following six heavily armed narcos who, in spite of their overwhelming advantage fled the scene after policing up all the brass they supposedly fired, and apparently got clean away from a hundred cops with helicopters. And the timing couldn't have been better for the sheriff's department.

Go back and read the articles and blogs, Dawg. Much of the stuff you quote was rumor and innuendo (contradicted by statements released by the Sheriff), NOT direct statements made by the L.E. agency conducting the investigation. Rather than make up rumors (fibs) to justify your hate of L.E., you might try waiting for the facts to be released.

Wow, this shit is outright scary. Shoot first... determine citizenship later.
