Much of the stuff you quote was rumor and innuendo (contradicted by statements released by the Sheriff), NOT direct statements made by the L.E. agency conducting the investigation. Skelly, the shoot-to-kill would be for armed gangs crossing the border with AK-47s, after following a long series of well established ROE.

There's just so much that doesn't add up, T. The story keeps changing - there were five, no there were six. They were in a van, no they were on foot carrying 50 lb. bales of weed and AK-47s. The deputy left his car and was patrolling alone on foot, following six heavily armed narcos who, in spite of their overwhelming advantage fled the scene after policing up all the brass they supposedly fired, and apparently got clean away from a hundred cops with helicopters. And the timing couldn't have been better for the sheriff's department.

Two helicopters drew fire, no one helicopter drew fire, no it was a mistake, the crew, thought they were drawing fire because somebody dropped a clip board and they mistook the sound for gunfire. Right there you know they're lying if you've spent anytime in helicopters: 1) You can't hear incoming gun fire in a chopper, it too loud inside. 2) You can't hear a clip board drop either, see 1.

There is a missing hour from the cops time line and he violated all kinds of standard procedures. They got no suspects and no bales of weed and no AK brass - these guys vanished into the desert and apparently walked through LE's cordon in broad daylight with choppers all over the sky. Since it's basically a self-investigation we should get some breathtaking spin when they finally speak.

Jan Brewer signed Senate Bill 1070 - may have been a hoax timed perfectly in the debate over illegal immigration and cartel bloodshed. The shootout also came the same week that Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, an outspoken critic of U.S. immigration policies, visited the border with John McCain and endorsed the Republican senator in a prominent campaign commercial.

Pinal County officials, though, say they have no doubt the incident occurred just as Deputy Louie Puroll described. On Wednesday, sheriff's officials released copies of their investigative report to squelch ongoing suggestions of fabrication.
