MLB deciding whether to review call
Major League Baseball was still deciding Thursday morning whether to review the umpire's blown call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game.
Commissioner Bud Selig has the power to reverse umpire Jim Joyce's missed call that came with two outs in the ninth inning Wednesday night in Detroit. Joyce ruled Cleveland's Jason Donald safe, then admitted he got it wrong and tearfully apologized in person to the pitcher.

I feel bad for the kid either way. The excitement is totally washed away and it will not be as memorable for him. Still unbelievable accomplishment, but the awe and shock will not be there for him.

Why not? He'll be the first pitcher in MLB history to throw a 28 out perfect game.dgreco wrote:I feel bad for the kid either way. The excitement is totally washed away and it will not be as memorable for him. Still unbelievable accomplishment, but the awe and shock will not be there for him.

It is simply a blip on the history of MLB. Why open up this box of worms?

Let's say it is overturned...does that AB of that next batter not count? How does he get those 5 pitches back?
Re: MLB deciding whether to review call
It's a moot point because Selig has balls about the size of chickpeas, but yeah, if it were overturned you'd revert to the final out I'd think.clenz wrote:Let's say it is overturned...does that AB of that next batter not count? How does he get those 5 pitches back?

Word is out now that Selig isn't doing a thing about this other than "look at" the possibility of expanding replay in the future.

Selig is a huge piece of shit. What a fucking joke. I have never forgiven the cocksucker when he called the All-Star game a few years back a tie either. He needs to leave...or die.

I agree, Willie. That "tie" was a bloody disgrace.

While3 I agree to a degree with those who said if he overturned the call it would open a can or worms, I do think he should have overturned it because it wouldnt have altered a games outcome, or a division race or playoff series or anything like that... All it would have changed was a personal accomplisment for a player and his teammates.
Shame on Selig and shame on everyone out there who agrees with him.

Heck, this guy will probably get more print in the Hall of Fame by not throwing the perfect game than he would've if he had thrown it. He would've been one of 20, now he's in a class by himself - the only guy to throw a perfect game and then have the ump take it away. Of course, there was that guy in the 70's who had the ump call a ball 4 on a pretty close pitch that cost him a perfect game, so it's not like this hasn't happened before.
