Oh I am definitely worried this year, but I think JMU is clearly the #1 team in FCS if they win this weekend.Montucky wrote:I know. I was thinking that as I typed it. It really wasn't a great argument, but you COULD have lost, lol. That's really the only point I was tyring to make. And yes, McGee looks AWESOME from the stats and the one vid clip of his return that I saw.
O you're getting the top seed, that's got to be a good feeling. I'd hate to be Towson this weekend really. Their the only thing standing between the offical decision.
Don't get too high on that horse though, the West is gonna tear some sh*t up this playoff year. I think.

Liberty and Dayton definitely won't make it. South Carolina St. is already in. Not sure who the Warners are. Griz will definitely have to have the best game of the year to beat JMU.SuperHornet wrote:Try this on for size (hoops style bracketing):

Re: Updated Bracket Projections
That's how it SHOULD be done. Seed everyone.
Who is Warner's? I tried to think, but it hurt so I stopped.
Dayton's NOT getting in. Richmond will be in with a win this weekend (lookout, they're dangerous).
Its the type of matchup the committee LOVES to give the griz. Basically the toughest 3 loss team in the field. Whatever. You gotta win'em all to win it all. Plus, I like watching the griz matchup with the eastern teams. They really need to schedule some home/home with some of the bigger east schools so we can get some familiarity with these schools. Its weird watching the rankings all year wondering who these other teams are. I am sure they wonder WTF Montana is doing above a bunch of schools they recognize.

Yea, and as a Griz fan, sure I love to see scenarios where 'Grizzz win it all', but dang. Grizz over JMU would be epic.
godukes: Do you think JMU would get past AppSt if they were to meet this saturday? I mean, how well do you see each team playing right now? It seems App has come on here towards the end, despite squeaking by Elon.
I see JMU as the clear #1, but no really wants to face appst, do they?

Re: Updated Bracket Projections
Well, this weekend....JMU has been playing great recently they were up 45-10 at one point to the #12 team in the nation and then put in their 2nd string which is the main reason why the score was 48-24. It's App. St. 3-time defending champs. I don't want to face App. St. at all in the playoffs, but they probably will have to at the end if both make it that far. Both teams are definitely beatable, but both are clearly #1 and #2. At least now I know JMU can contain App. St.'s QB.

Re: Updated Bracket Projections
It would be more credible if you (a) didn't leave out a team with an auto-bid, (b) didn't put in a team (Warners) that at least three posters don't even know who they are (I'm one), and (c) didn't include a team with non SOS and no auto-bid (Dayton)...the committee will never pick them...they lost last week to Morehead State...SuperHornet wrote:Try this on for size (hoops style bracketing):

I think SuperHornet was referring to UNI as "the Warners".... SuperHornet does that with a lot of schools on eGriz (naming them after famous alum like in this case, Kurt Warner)

And if that's the case, then I don't think UNI would play SIU in the first round...
Re: Updated Bracket Projections
Funny Col! He's does have a point SuperHornet, but considering we're all at work/in between classes with little time to check facts I suppose we can let it slide. THIS ONCE.
Barring an utter collapse (nothing to do with mammary glands), JMU and App with have the #1 and 2 seeds. So the next time they would meet would be in Chatty. This SHOULD make godukes happy, but my guess is IF you make it to Chatty you don't really want to play app. And who would?
I really see the #3-4 seeds going to these teams UM, Weber, Villi, maybe CP. There's no one else out there that's deserving (sorry UNI/SIU fans).

I would agree with the statement I bolded...except...the committee has this habit of picking seeds that conflumix us...and I can see them picking one of those MVC teams as a fourth seed...Montucky wrote:Funny Col! Re: Updated Bracket Projections
Assuming Colgate and Texas St. win.....do you think the committee would make Texas St. travel all the way to JMU instead of going to a closer place like Weber St.? Texas St. would be the last seed the bracket.

I agree 100%. The top team out of the MVC will get a seed, whether it derserves one or not. Nova won't get one.Col Hogan wrote:I would agree with the statement I bolded...except...the committee has this habit of picking seeds that conflumix us...and I can see them picking one of those MVC teams as a fourth seed...Montucky wrote:Funny Col! You're first statement is exactly the reason I could see Nova getting a seed. I didn't think SIU would get a seed last year and they did.Col Hogan wrote:I would agree with the statement I bolded...except...the committee has this habit of picking seeds that conflumix us...and I can see them picking one of those MVC teams as a fourth seed...

As far as UNI/SIU not deserving a seed, I don't really care what others think. People are down on the MVFC and the only thing that will change that is if the teams (seeded or not) win playoff games to prove that the conference is still one of the three best in the country.

Re: Updated Bracket Projections
I love sticking my foot in my mouth. Upon further examination, UNI could get a seed. But there will be 2
1 loss teams ahead of them (UM,CP) and Nova's resumes IS better (3 signature wins (Bill&Mary,Richmond,UNH, plus close "loss" to JMU) to UNI's 2 sig wins (SDST,NDST close loss to SIU)).
Nova HAS the better resume. Assuming they win out, they have 1(!) FCS loss to JMU. And that was a MIRACLE PLAY. 9-2 Villanova vs 10-2.
You tell me.

Re: Updated Bracket Projections
Awww that's right, CP will likely get smoked against Wisconsin.
Ok so CP will 1 FCS loss(UM), UM will have 1 FCS loss(Weber), Nova will have 1 FCS loss(JMU), UNI will have 1 FCS loss(SIU), and Weber will have 0 FCS losses. Interesting.
Still doesn't disprove that Villanova has the better resume compared to UM and UNI. And while WeberSt can claim no FCS losses, their big wins include who: UM annnnnnnd what Montana State and NAU. They played two FBS teams close for a while and they won the Big Sky. Its not a bad resume, but the NAU win (even for UM) is looking less and less impressive. I could even see them losing this week against EWU, although its unlikely.
So how long after Saturday's games will the committees take to select the Brackets. Usually out by Monday, right?
