Are there any Mike Leakes or Stephen Strausburgs in this draft?

Re: 2010 MLB Draft
Choice is pretty damn good but he went 1/9 against us in 3 games. (4 K's)
He's v. good at turning into a ball to get HBP too. We gave him an IW when it wasn't really needed and he made the last out (3UA) that won us the SLC.
However, it's good to see an actual College guy get drafted with all the HS kids they're taking

Re: 2010 MLB Draft
36. Boston Red Sox - For Jason Bay
The Pick: Bryce Brentz, OF, Middle Tennessee State
The Buzz: An absolute steal for the Red Sox. Brentz was projected as high as No. 10 and slides way down to the board. He has a short compact swing that can hit for power and average.

Re: 2010 MLB Draft
39. Boston Red Sox - For Billy Wagner
The Pick: Anthony Ranaudo, RHP, LSU
The Buzz: One of the bigger players in the draft, Ranaudo checks in at a massive 6-foot-6, 230-plus pounds. With command of three pitches, he is a very solid prospect to get in the middle of the supplimental round.

Re: 2010 MLB Draft

Introducing the new asshole of MLB.
I give him less than a year before he:
is dead
becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol
is in jail for raping an 11 yr. old girl
is giving the keynote at a Republican Party rally
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

I played against Sr. at various levels back in the day in Delaware. I can't believe he has a kid draft age already.dbackjon wrote: 8. Houston Astros Delino DeShields Jr. OF/2B Woodward Academy (Atlanta)

Re: 2010 MLB Draft
Keeping an eye on the draft today.
An old buddy of mine has a son who is hopefully going to get drafted after a very successful college career at Wake Forest. My buddy played minor league ball with the White Sox organization.
Also a pitcher on the local high school team was projected to a Round 1 or 2 pick, but he partially tore a ligament in his pitching arm in his last start before the draft. Now no one knows where he will go now.

Re: 2010 MLB Draft
The Sox have taken Pennsylvania high school SS Sean Coyle, a North Carolina signee who played for the Under 18 Team USA last summer. He has been described as the Dustin Pedroia of this draft in that he has lot of tools in a little (5-8, 175 pounds) package. He projects as a 2B in pro ball.
Coyle was the 110th overall pick. His brother plays at UNC and the Sox will have to pay to keep him from the Tar Heels. Coyle hit leadoff for Team USA and had tremendous plate discipline.
-----------------------------------------
Good news here is that Keith Law reported this morning before the draft day began that Boston would take Coyle and that parameters of a deal were already in place this morning, so unless some major development he will bypass UNC and sign with Boston.

Holy crap. Delino is quite a few years younger than I am and he has a kid finishing HS?SunCoastBlueHen wrote:I played against Sr. at various levels back in the day in Delaware. Re: 2010 MLB Draft
Delino was Class of 87 at Seaford. I wish he'd have taken the basketball scholly at Nova instead of going through with a mediocre career in baseball, with some early flashes of brilliance.89Hen wrote:Holy crap.
