I watched the first 4 innings and WOW, what a freak of nature (I mean that in a good way) his fastball had lots of movement, his curve was falling off the table, a real good performance. But, on the flip side, look who he played, the Pitates, one of the worst teams in MLB, the first few innings he fell behind on his pitch count alot 3-1, 3-0 etc..He wont beable to do that against better hitting teams like the Dodgers, Giants or Reds but we'll see.

What I really loved was how he absolutely shut the team down after he gave up that homerun. It was like that just pissed him off and made him more motivated. And he just got better as the night went on, ending with 7 straight strikeouts and he struck out every single batter in the lineup (I haven't seen any other pitchers do that).

There could not have been any more pressure put on this kid. No one would have blamed him if he went out there last night and just got blown apart. After all, what do you expect from a 21 year old kid? And I know that it is all the trend these days to hate success and hype, but he lived up to the hype last night and surpassed it.

Anyways, yes, he is going to have his off nights. And I'm sure the Travis's, Alphie's and Clenz's of the world will pounce all over those. But he is the real deal. He's already got a mix of pitches that other pitchers can only cream, er, dream about. He is humble and seems to understand that he still has alot to learn about baseball at this level. Only time will tell if he can turn that ungodly talent into a great career. It's going to be fun to actually have something to watch in DC besides AL/NL East teams swamping our ballpark!

That was unbelievable. I didn't think there was any way he could live up to the hype, but he exceeded it. The radio shows around here started all-Strasburg coverage all day long yesterday and they're still going this morning... and I'm not tired of it at all. That was one of the most incredible pitching performances I've seen and I don't give a rats ass that it was against the Pirates.

He didn't allow a single fly-ball out (not all that unheard of especially considering he two-thirds of his outs were strikeouts)

He's the greatest pitching prospect since Sidd Finch. Finch didn't care much for baseball though. Hope Strausberg sticks with baseball and doesn't quit the game for a music career, like Finch.

Very, very rarely does someone actually live up to and EXCEED the hype surrounding them. This kid did that and then some.
