Just my two cents...

I'm not sure that's the right conclusion. UMass also had a passing game to worry about, SIU didn't. The Griz were free to stack the box against SIU because there wasn't much threat of being torched. They didn't have that luxury against UMass.
Could be either or both. That's what makes theses stats worthless for comparison.

You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Richmond and New Hampshire win to lock up their spots.

Liberty thumps Elon, 26-3. How do you not have the Flames in now?

This still doesn't mean Liberty is going to make it. I think it will be JMU, App. St., Cal Poly, Northern Iowa, Colgate, South Carolina St., Richmond, Villanova, Eastern Kentucky, Texas St., Wofford, UNH, Weber St, Montana, SIU, and then probably Elon. If not Elon, then W&M or Maine.

Elon won't get in after today.

I'll post my new bracket later tonight (I'm working on it now), but that last team for me is a mystery at the moment. It could by W&M, it could be Liberty, it could be a second OVC team, or it could even be Florida A&M after their pasting of Bethune-Cookman.

But that lack of a passing game didn't stop SIU from running all over the MVC that year. THAT'S my point. I just don't put a lot of value in conference stats....common opponents-yes....conference stats, aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

So, here's the 16 teams, IMHO:

Montana
Weber
Cal Poly
Texas State
SIU
UNI
ASU
Wofford
JMU
Villanova
Richmond
UNH
Colgate
EKU
South Carolina State

And the last spot goes to: Either Liberty or Albany. Elon, Maine and W&M played their way out of the playoffs today.

Well, whoever the 16th team is, there's 4 "cupcakes" in the field: #16, EKU, Colgate and SCSU. I will almost guarantee you they ALL stay in the east and play other East teams. JMU, ASU, Villanova and UNH will get first round "byes".

I think Liberty is more deserving than Albany. So you are saying there has to be 4 cupcake teams since there is 3 of them? Does this happen every year? I just don't think having 4 cupcakes stay east make sense since you got Cal Poly, Northern Iowa, and Montana as probably the other top seeds.

IMO W&M is the best team left; beat New Hampshire, lost by only 10 to Villanova, and lost to Richmond in overtime today. All three are top 10 teams. If I was part of the committee I would choose Maine or W&M as the last seed at least based on performance. It would be stupid to leave W&M out if Albany went.

While I may agree with you, I don't see the committee passing on a 10-2 Liberty team with a win over Elon for a 7-4 W&M team with a win over UNH but that ended the season on a 2-game losing streak.

And it's a rare day when the committee sends a cupcake West.

Sure he is but he has a point. Montana got the SoCon champ in the first round last year as a seed and the Big Sky Champ while Eastern Washington got sent to a seeded McNeese. Some of the brackets have Weber or Montana getting Cal Poly. Would they send Cal Poly to JMU or App? Montana as a possible 3 or 4 seed could get the (former) #3 team in the nation that was a couple of missed extra points from beating Wisconsin on the road. I think that is what he means by getting "cupcakes" in the opening round. JMU or APP wont get have to worry about playing anything like a Poly in the first round where Montana does.

So since Weber St. won their conference, but after this weeks lost, they will be out of the top 10. Probably fall to 12. I know some people say the rankings don't matter, but they mean something. Do you guys still think Weber St. will get one of the top 4 seeds. I think this opens the picture for Montana or Villanova to get a top 4 seed. Cal Poly definitely deserves a top 4 seed. I am not so sure how good Northern Iowa is.

I think Montana gets the seed now, even though Weber gets the autobid.

I agree or Villanova. I think overall season Villanova is better, but last two weeks Villanova hasn't been playing up to task like the rest of their season.

I agree. They have the record and the wins. They will also produce the $$$$

Let's be honest...Montana could be ranked #10 and they'd get a seed because they produce the $$$$...

In exchange, they have to play a good team...can't have everything...

But the same could be said of ASU, no? And JMU? So they get penalized JUST because they're Montana?
