It's Official: Colorado to Pac-10
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--The Pacific-10 Conference announced today that the University of Colorado at Boulder has accepted an invitation to join the Conference as its 11th member, the first new member since July 1, 1978.
"This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is poised for tremendous growth. The University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically and athletically and we are incredibly excited to welcome Colorado to the Pac-10," said Commissioner Larry Scott.
"On behalf of The University of Colorado students, faculty, alumni and fans, we are proud to accept this invitation from the Pac-10 and join the most prestigious academic and athletic conference in the nation, " said Philip P. DiStefano, chancellor of CU-Boulder.
"The University of Colorado is a perfect match - academically and athletically - with the Pac-10," said University of Colorado President Bruce D. Benson, "our achievements and aspirations match those of the universities in the conference and we look forward to a productive relationship."
Commissioner Scott, Chancellor DiStefano, President Benson, CU Board of Regents Chairman Steve Bosely and CU Athletics Director Mike Bohn and others will hold an official press conference on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. MT at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo.

Re: It's Official: Colorado to Pac-10
lets see how long it takes for all the other announcements to start coming out.

Re: It's Official: Colorado to Pac-10
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State should follow. The Texas schools still need to decide which three will go and what will happen to the fourth school. Best case scenario for them is that A&M goes to the SEC so the other three can go to the Pac 16.

Re: It's Official: Colorado to Pac-10
From what I've read very recently, Baylor is not a part of any Texas package, despite their 'pull' in the Texas legislature. So Texas A&M to the SEC, Texas and Texas Tech to the Pac-10, and who gives a shit about Baylor. I could be wrong though, but seriously, what does Baylor have to offer these other conferences other than being just another bottom-feeder like they are in the Big 12?T-Dog wrote:Oklahoma and Oklahoma State should follow. Apparently, the California schools are balking at Baylor - they don't want a super religious school in the Pac 10, especially one that is a) anti-gay and b) headed by Ken Starr.bandl wrote:From what I've read very recently, Baylor is not a part of any Texas package, despite their 'pull' in the Texas legislature. I didn't know they had religion in Texas, the bunch of heathens. Maybe I'm focusing too much on the athletic portion of it all (you know, since we're talking about sports here

Both basketball teams are good - but football sucks. They don't bring in a big market, eitherbandl wrote:I didn't know they had religion in Texas, the bunch of heathens. Interesting.dbackjon wrote:

Maybe I'm focusing too much on the athletic portion of it all (you know, since we're talking about sports here), but Baylor has NOTHING to offer these conferences in any of the major sports. Maybe women's basketball...baseball (right?)...some other small-time sports....but certainly not in football or men's basketball.
Re: It's Official: Colorado to Pac-10
The men's basketball team has certainly improved over the past few years under Drew, but up until 2007/2008, they hadn't even been invited to the NCAA tourney since 1987/1988 and hadn't won a single game in the NCAA Tourney since 1949/1950 (and just so you know, I'm not counting the NIT). So they are good right now, and we'll see if that continues or if Drew leaves for a bigger school (Michigan State???) but they haven't amounted to anything for a long, long time.dbackjon wrote:Both basketball teams are good - but football sucks. Agreed - if Drew leaves, they will sink back into mediocrity. Of course, they may be competitive in the C-USAbandl wrote:The men's basketball team has certainly improved over the past few years under Drew, but up until 2007/2008, they hadn't even been invited to the NCAA tourney since 1987/1988 and hadn't won a single game in the NCAA Tourney since 1949/1950 (and just so you know, I'm not counting the NIT). Come on, they would take in Saudi Arabia Wahabbi St., jihad and all, even with Bin Laden as the Provost, if it brought in significant money. They don't want Baylor because Baylor brings nothing to the table in terms of extra revenue. Money matters.dbackjon wrote:Apparently, the California schools are balking at Baylor - they don't want a super religious school in the Pac 10, especially one that is a) anti-gay and b) headed by Ken Starr.bandl wrote: From what I've read very recently, Baylor is not a part of any Texas package, despite their 'pull' in the Texas legislature. Why is there this assumption that TX would take Tech vice the ATMs with them?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
