Red Sox Maybe Set To Call Up Lars Anderson

Following tonights game Boston optioned OF Josh Reddick to AAA Pawtucket and will make a corresponding move prior to tomorrows game.

The move is surprising since Boston placed an OF on the DL today and has no other OFs on the 40 man roster.

One potential move is to call up 1B Lars Anderson to play tomorrow with Kevin Youkilis expected to miss atleast another day with a sore back.

If the Sox do indeed call on Anderson it would be his first call up to Boston. The Sox lose nothing by calling him up now as he is expected to be among their September callups and could play a role with the team in 2011.

There was an old Harvard grad (class of 1888) named Larz (with a "z") Anderson who funded the Anderson Memorial Bridge between Cambridge and Allston/Boston, MA. It's on the route from Harvard Square to Harvard Stadium. I tromped across it many times as an undergrad.
