And an interesting Spokesman article about it, which reveals a little about why Marc Hughes has been saying Montana fans hate the red turf; donations.

Who are their sources? Montana isn't the only team that so called "hates" it. I think just about every team does. I don't get why EWU and their fans have to bring Montana into every discussion.

Exactly what I was going to post.Willie wrote:Who are their sources? Montana isn't the only team that so called "hates" it. I think just about every team does. I don't get why EWU and their fans have to bring Montana into every discussion.
This isn't only Montana fans "hating" it. This is pretty much all college football fans. It has nothing to do with the donations EWU got for it, or anything like that. It is the fact that Red turf will be a disaster, but EWU will never admit that because of the support they have tried to gain for it.
I wouldn't be shocked if EWU doesn't get red turf again when this current turf will need to be replaced in 7-10 years, and they will come up with some BS reason for why they didn't keep it.

Re: Red Turf Prep Starts Sat. June 12
Well if you read the article, it sounds like Marc Hughes (EWU’s associate athletic director for development) just threw in the "Montana hates it" bit back when it was announced as a way to incite EWU alums to dig into their pockets and donate. Granted a fair amount of UM fans probably do, I think it was meant primarily as a marketing tool to raise $. Although whether or not that was a factor in the amount raised, who knows.Willie wrote:Who are their sources? Montana isn't the only team that so called "hates" it. That's more like it, I know the prep work for the install of FieldTurf at Montana St. a couple years ago was extensive (there's more than a half mile of drain pipe under the field). On our field there's a 5" crown from sideline to midfield and the finish grade materials had to be within 1/4" tolerance anywhere on the field before the 'turf' went down. It was pretty impressive to watch the whole process (of course our field isn't 'bloody red' ).Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Okay, I was way off.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:
As far as sod removal goes, they didn't go into a whole lot of detail, but it'll start on Monday and I'd imagine it wouldn't take more than a couple days or a week tops.

That's a pretty idiotic statement there Clenzy. That's not a fact, that's your insignificant opinion doused with a nice facade of ignorance. EWU is trying to gain national attention for the program. So far they've succeeded in that. We don't give a shit what others think about it. The University saw it as an opportunity to improve our playing surface and brand the EWU name on a national stage.clenz wrote: It is the fact that Red turf will be a disaster, but EWU will never admit that because of the support they have tried to gain for it.

I was only speaking of the actual sod removal, which was what Dback was asking about, and not factoring in the rest of the prep work.GOKATS wrote:That's more like it, I know the prep work for the install of FieldTurf at Montana St. a couple years ago was extensive (there's more than a half mile of drain pipe under the field). I am so excited that they have all the money raised and are finally going to break ground this week. I don't give a crap what ploy was used to motivate alums and donors to give but whatever was said it worked. EWU rivals Montana due to geography and not just in the envious way that the other Big Sky schools outside of Montana State do. Go Eagles!!!

The entire project, which could also include a new scoreboard if enough additional money can be raised, is expected to take about eight weeks,....
Hope they can come up with the extra $$$$

Since you are such a high roller with bitches on your rings why don't you just give them the extra money for it? I am sure you could probably find it in your couch cusions or perhaps under your Escalade's seats.BlackFalkin wrote:The entire project, which could also include a new scoreboard if enough additional money can be raised, is expected to take about eight weeks,....

Will the red fade?
If it does, it will then look pink and Roos field will be a laughing stock.

Yeah, but it will make the MSU players feel pretty and special.Wapiti wrote:Will the red fade?

From what I understand, it will fade a little, but not so much as to drastically change the color. Trust me, the concern has been brought up before.
