15 Dead Police Officers: Where's the Mexican Outrage?

The latest in a series of mass slayings came as President Felipe Calderon defended his crackdown on traffickers in an essay on his office's website. He vowed he won't back down despite criticism that violence has only surged since he deployed thousands of troops and federal police in late 2006 seeking to crush the cartels.

"I'm clearly convinced that we would be in a much worse situation if we hadn't decided to fight criminals," Calderon wrote in the 5,000-word essay, which was published by several newspapers.

"If we remain with our arms crossed, we will remain in the hands of organized crime, we will always live in fear," the president said in the essay, which also blames Mexico's violence on the United States' voracious appetitive for illegal drugs.
One boy gets shot for attacking a border patrol agent and Calderon flys to Washington DC to speak on the capital steps and Mexicans riot in their streets. 15 police officers get ambushed and killed, Calderon puts out an essay on his website (and oh, by the way, blames the US for THIS too.  ) Apparently he didn't heed Obama's advice about not making excuses...course, Obama hasn't heeded his OWN advice, so why should Calderon?

The fucking hypocrisy of these idiots never ceases to amaze me. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Exactly. The disparity in response from 1 15-year old hoodlum to 15 members of the national police force is staggering. but then, it wasn't AMERICANS who killed the police (well, by Calderon's logic, perhaps it WAS).

I agree. I just find it ironic that the president of a country who has way more extreme immigration laws than the US is even brining this up. :ohno: I haven't been following any news lately but has anyone called Calderon out on this?

Are you sure this isn't another hoax like the Pinal county sheriff just tried to pull off? :coffee:

This problem could be solved with the stroke of a pen tomorrow if we really wanted it gone, but the fact is that there is way too much money to be made.

The narcos and the CIA both need the status quo to continue so that the CIA can have an off-the-books budget safe from government oversight for their various bidniz dealings with such as the bin Laden family and the narcos, and the narcos need the best weaponry available to stay in bidniz. I don't expect there will be any changes to what has become a pretty cozy, and profitable, relationship for both sides.

Many people in this country would lose their jobs if Mexico turned into another Canada. Mexico's problems are a cottage industry for the USA and we all know it. :thumb:

Funny how the 9/11 crowd came across the Canadian border but there isn't any Tea Party outrage about securing that one.... :coffee:
