Was I supposed to somehow NOT know Ian MacKellan is gay?

BTW-
There's an excellent fudge-packer movie with him and Brendan Fraser called "Gods and Monsters."
I highly recommend it.

Re: Gandalf Says
To be more precise, some people are homosexual. "Gay" can mean homosexual because for some reason homosexuals decided to hijack the word. But the original meaning of "gay" is "happy." So, even though our language has been contaminated by the homosexual movement so that a word that once exclusively meant "happy" now also means "homosexual," there are still people who are "gay" who are not "homosexual" at any given time.
Then there's the irony associated with the fact that homosexual people are probably less likely to be happy than other people. And, no, I haven't looked up the statistics yet. But I know that the whole point of the "homosexuality is normal" movement is that homosexuals would be just as happy on average as everybody else if it wasn't for other people discriminating against them.

I need to get a T shirt made that says, "Being homosexual is abnormal. Get over it."

I still occasionally hear people (usually field or general grade officers trying to rally the troops during particularly challenging situations) say, "we need to stick a finger in the dyke".Ivytalk wrote: But it's still OK to use the word "dyke" as a structure to hold back water!
That's a tough one to sit through without reacting.

Re: Gandalf Says
I am not wrong in stating that homosexuality is an abnormal condition. And that fact that you would even suggest that I am illustrates the "Emporer's New Clothes" syndrome afflicting this culture when it comes to this issue. No, you're already wrong. I just thought you could use some reinforcement.

I can't call anything that God gives someone abnormal. It might put them in the minority, but it doesn't make them abnormal.JohnStOnge wrote:I am not wrong in stating that homosexuality is an abnormal condition. Re: Gandalf Says
BTW, why do you think there is such resistance to calling the condition what it is? Why does the T shirt not say, "Some people are homosexual....?"
I think you know. It's because reminding people of the truth of the situation isn't consistent with achieving the desired effect. "Gay" doesn't quite bring home what's being described to the extent that the accurate term "homosexual" does. It's a "lipstick on a pig" strategy.

Really? I think you need to think about that statement. Are you saying there is no such thing as an abnormal condition?I can't call anything that God gives someone abnormal. It might put them in the minority, but it doesn't make them abnormal.
