dont forget to explain injury time :thumb:
Andrea seems baffled by the 30 minute difference between 60 minutes and 90 minutes...why am I going to introduce injury time?

because it might confuse him enough so that when at Towson football games he might sit there after the 4th quarter praying for a comeback in injury time :D

Two 45 minute halves is almost as stupid as three 20 minute periods. GD communists.

Letterman was making fun of soccer timekeeping last night. He asked if anyone could figure out how much time is left in a soccer game. By the time you figure out that there are 45 minute halves, the referee decides to add ten minutes.

Liar. :o I've never seen a ref add more than 7 or 8 minutes, and that was an EPL match, not the World Cup. I have heard of a ref adding 30 minutes, but that is because one of the players broke his neck and they didn't want to just cart him off before securing his neck properly. Pussies. :ohno:

Why, just because of a little broken neck? That's for pussies. Or so they can rest? Resting is for pussies too. :ohno:

Anyone see that fucking hottie from Honduras in the stands for the Honduras/Chile match? Holy shnickies. Supermodel/Miss Universe quality from the quick glimpse I got of her. I DVR'd the match so I am definitely going to go home and watch it just for her, then I'll probably fall asleep real quickly.

I must admit, World Cup soccer is good for bringing outhot chicks.

Anyone remember that Brazil chick with the aerolas bouncing around last time around?

Pics or STFU

I do remember one particular Brazilian chick from the last WC. Her picture was all over the place in the soccer websites. She was stunning, although i don't remember her aereolas so I'm not sure if it is the same chick. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw her again as a model in some magazine.

I'm going to search for her now. I'll probably have to take a nap under my desk in a bit.

That's her! The NSFW one. There was a video of her bouncing around. The cameraman kept going back to her.

Swiss take the 1-0 lead over Spain.

Wasn't Spain the favorite of the whole tournament?

Brazil is the overall favorite, but they are right up there with them. Spain as a team has a tendency to fail at this level even with the best players. Still 35+ minutes left, they can still salvage a tie or even a win. Even with a loss here they are by no means eliminated.

Ever since Torres came in, Spain has just been peppering the goal with shot after shot. Alonso just blasted one off the post. Possession is about 3 to 1 in favor of spanish.

Switzerland beats Spain, 1-0. Their first ever win over Spain, and Spain is ranked #2 in the world, so in those regard it is a big upset. But Switzerland is ranked #24 in the world and is not a bad team in any way, shape or form so in that regard it is not a huge upset. The expectations for Spain were huge going into the WC, this just kinda puts them back in their place as one of the best teams on the planet who can't get the result it needs when it matters.

If anyone who watched didn't think that was a highly entertaining match, then you are just watching for the wrong thing. Or you are a Swiss fan and didn't like to see Spain dominate up and down the pitch in all facets of the game (other than that lone slop goal).

I was at a hotel in Denver on Sunday night drinking with the crew from Iron Maiden. They were all english and talking about the game when we walked up. I asked "are you guys talking about the soccer game?" They went Ape-shit...IT'S NOT SOCCER YOU STUPID YANK...IT'S FOOTBALL. Our response was "what ever you call it...we kicked your limey ass" It went downhill in a hurry after that.

So through the first 16 games, there were a total of 25 goals scored (and that includes a 4-0 shutout by Germany). Ugh. Pitching duels in baseball can be very compelling, but this lack of scoring makes it hard to watch. NONE of the 16 games saw a losing or tying team score more than one goal. As a matter of fact, I think North Korea may be the only team to score a goal and not win or tie. :coffee:

Really starting to look like South Africa is going to be the first host nation ever not to advance out of the group stage.
