As bad as Reagan was, he was most definitely NOT unpatriotic. How the cr@p does one classify the President of the 600-ship Navy as unpatriotic?!?
What a dumb@$$.

Right on que....I'd expect nothing less...If that's what you feel about Reagan, you must REALLY have hated Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama....they can't hold a candle to him.kalm wrote:What, spend more than all the presidents before him combined, rape the environment, and end the middle class?AZGrizFan wrote:

Maybe MSNBC is sensing the issues with Obama and are positioning themselves to jump on the Hillary bandwagon when she makes a play to challenge Obama in 2012? Still a long way away, but Obama's treading in tough waters here - he does run the risk of seeming to be permanently ineffectual in the way that Carter was and once that happens it's over for him. You figure he's got about a year left before he needs to start going into real re-election mode and he'll need all of that time to make sure people don't start painting him as the second coming of Jimmy Carter. But it's not as far-fetched as originally thought that he could face a challenge from within the party for the nomination.93henfan wrote:What's this? The MSM criticizing Obama? That can't be. I didn't hear the speech, but from what I'm reading on CNN, Fox, Yahoo, etc. it sounds like BHO did nothing last night to assuage any fears about the gulf or inspire any confidence that they have it under control.
Re: Obama's Oil Spill Speech is Pissing Me Off
That was the biggest problem of the speech - he didn't show any signs that the problem was under control.ASUG8 wrote:I didn't hear the speech, but from what I'm reading on CNN, Fox, Yahoo, etc. it sounds like BHO did nothing last night to assuage any fears about the gulf or inspire any confidence that they have it under control.
Last night Obama had to, HAD TO, show that they had a workable plan to a) cap the well, b) clean up the mess, and c) help the impacted communities. If we're talking a month to cap, a couple years to clean, and a decade to help then last night was his time to lay it all out for the American people. Instead he wasted his 20 minutes on national TV with petulance, feigned anger, and pushing his agenda. Truly an immature and frankly incompetent utilization of his position...

I think that is the first time I've sat and listened to Olberman and Matthews and actually agree with what they were saying!

So, if Billary runs again in 2012, does she have to resign State to compete against her boss?

Begrudgingly in 2000 (I was a McCain fan), and also in 2004. I've never shied away from that....given the alternatives (Gore and Kerry), what were we to do?93henfan wrote:Did you vote for GWB? Let's not be stingy with the "stupid" label. Man up.AZGrizFan wrote:

Scary thought - she might actually use a nuke to cap the well - might actually work! (Of course, it could just as easily render all Gulf seafood radioactive for the next decade)93henfan wrote:And yet you were OK with Palin being just an old man's heartbeat away from knowing our nuke codes?AZGrizFan wrote:

I haven't done any research, but the question appealed enough to me that I had to at least take a shot in the dark at it.93henfan wrote:So, if Billary runs again in 2012, does she have to resign State to compete against her boss?
I'm pretty certain that she could run while holding office as the Secretary of State. However, I think most people would want her to resign because it would be seen that you can't be running international relations while dealing with mostly domestic issues.
Should she win, I've always heard that the requirement was that you couldn't serve in two different branches of government during the same timeframe. However, the Presidency and the Secretary of State are both members of the Executive Branch so that would not apply. I would assume/hope that there is some other law that precludes someone from holding both positions, but do not know of one specifically. Obviously, that's a moot point anyhow -- as she would obviously resign should she be elected.

Well, since I think BHO will run for reelection...and HRC works for him...and she would have to run AGAINST her boss in the primaries...I think she'll resign prior to even getting into the election...GSUAlumniEagle wrote:I haven't done any research, but the question appealed enough to me that I had to at least take a shot in the dark at it.93henfan wrote:So, if Billary runs again in 2012, does she have to resign State to compete against her boss?

Otherwise, she'll have to ask Barack for time off to campaign against him...wonder how the phone call would go???

Re: Obama's Oil Spill Speech is Pissing Me Off
Palin sucks, but not as much as Obama. His limited executive experience was even less than hers, and we have been paying for it with unbeleivably historic executive incompetence in the white house!93henfan wrote:And yet you were OK with Palin being just an old man's heartbeat away from knowing our nuke codes?AZGrizFan wrote:

Palin at least showed some backbone as governor against the oil lobby and her own party, and WON! That took more guts and brains than Obama has showed on the Gulf spill (or any other issue.)
Riddle me this: If Palin had been President when the Gulf Spill occurred, how many minutes do you think it would have taken her to write an executive order waiving the Jones Act and accepting multiple offers of foreign aid to clean up the spill? More than two months after the fact, Obama still dithers and triangulates and blames others...
The other factor to consider is that a McCain/Palin administration would have fewer incompetent ideologues and a far greater number of competent, experienced, varsity players in the administration.
Jeeezums loooeeezums, Obama's team makes even the rubes surrounding Jimmy Carter look brilliant by comparison!
