US National Team player Cammi Granato is among the first two female players to be named to the National Hockey Hall of Fame, Yahoo! is reporting. Females have always been eligible, but Granato (sister of NHL journeyman Tony Granato) and Canadian star Angela James are the first to be nominated. The process was made somewhat easier in the last year or so by the creation of a women's division at the HOF. Granato, James, and Canadian Geraldine Heaney were the first female inductees to the international hockey HOF in 2008.
This is awesome. I remember Granato as one of the best US hockey players who ever lived.

C. Granato to be Inducted to Hockey HOF

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
