Better idea: **** the DH. AL teams need to learn to play real baseball.

Baseball with the DH is not real baseball.
Unless a team wins games in the World Series without the DH, they are not really champs.

Fair point and if that happened fine... BUT its dangerous to put a pitcher into a position he isnt in for 95% of the season. While the final diagnosis isnt yet known on Clay Buchholz, it appears the Sox may have dodged a bullet.free7694 wrote:Better idea: **** the DH. AL teams need to learn to play real baseball.
If the AL used no DH these pitchers in the AL would be tought proper baserunning in the minors and would be used to it as they would be doing it all the time, but to put these guys in the position they are is stupid.
One way or the other MLB needs to make the rules universal, whether with or without DH.

Sorry, but if a pro athlete can run the bases without getting hurt, then it is no one's fault but his own.

People don't pay $30+ to see a fucking pitcher bat. DH should be in both leagues.

Pitchers should become baseball players and learn to hit a god damn ball like everyone else.

Then why not have a complete offense and defense switch?Willie wrote:People don't pay $30+ to see a fucking pitcher bat. DH should be in both leagues.

What I said is simple. I don't get why people get bent out of shape over it. It's my opinion.

The best hitters in HS baseball are usually pitchers. What the cr@p happens to them in the freaking minors? What the stupid Yankees did to Ruth? Is that it?

It would have been your opinion if you said that "you" don't want to pay whatever to see a pitcher hit.Willie wrote:What I said is simple. I don't get why people get bent out of shape over it. It's my opinion.

You, and everyone else on this site, are fucking high if you say you wanna spend your money to watch a professional PITCHER, hit.DJH wrote:It would have been your opinion if you said that "you" don't want to pay whatever to see a pitcher hit.Willie wrote:What I said is simple. Re: YO **** NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
The Rockies used to use Mike Hampton in the DH role when they played interleague.. solid batter and baserunner. I believe they did the same with Jason Jennings too. I personally like watching the pitchers hit.. always good to see one jack a ball over the fence. Watching a guy like Randy Johnson on the bases was always good for a laugh too. Whatever they do, they need to do it for both leagues.. the AL pitchers getting a break compared to NL pitchers is BS.. make it a universal rule.

Re: YO FUCK NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
I want to see a pitcher hit, and hit successfully. I think it is pathetic that pitchers, as professional baseball players, can step up to the plate and just give the other team an out. I also think it is sad that a professional athlete can get injured running 90 feet from one base to another because "its something he's not used to doing". You are baseball players. Play baseball please.Willie wrote:You, and everyone else on this site, are fucking high if you say you wanna spend your money to watch a professional PITCHER, hit.DJH wrote:

I want to see pitchers learn how to hit like every other baseball player. I want to see pitchers that can hit in the middle of the order because they are great athletes.
Also, regarding the DH, I don't want to see some 41 year old fat fucking slob that does not even have the ability to play in the field in an emergency situation, go up to the plate and hit 20 HRs while batting .200 and striking out 250 times.

Quite often in highschool or lower levels, the teams best all-around athlete is made a pitcher, since that is where they can have the most impact.SuperHornet wrote:The best hitters in HS baseball are usually pitchers. But once one reaches the pros, then the pitchers spend a great deal more practice time developing their pitching, and training their muscles and whatnot to maximize their pitching motion. Where as non-pitchers can devote more of their time/effort/training/conditioning into their batting.
That being said, I prefer the National League model, without the DH.
One aspect that hasn't been mentioned yet is that having the pitchers in the batting order brings more strategy into the game.

Re: YO FUCK NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
AL pitchers need to bat if for no other reason than it restores balance to the policing of the game in headhunting situations... see that chicken s--t Roger Clemens for an example.
Plus, with pitchers batting managers have to actually manage the game. You know, situational baseball... sacrifice hits, double switches, etc.

Re: YO **** NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
They need to be the same in both leagues. Right now it's unfair for either league when they go to the other one. The pitchers in the AL can't hit and the NL teams do not have a roster that is built for using a DH.

Re: YO FUCK NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
What kind of chump hurts himself running 90-120 feet? DH or not, only an assclown would hurt himself running around the bases unprovoked. If you can't properly round first base, then you deserve to get hurt.
And it's just gravy that it involves a Boston player.

THIS. So Willie - you don't want to see a pitcher hit, but you are perfectly willing to pay $100 to see some guy that can ONLY hit? Weak.DJH wrote:Willie wrote: You, and everyone else on this site, are fucking high if you say you wanna spend your money to watch a professional PITCHER, hit.

Re: YO FUCK NL HOME FIELD INTERLEAGUE RULES
it takes a whole lot of guts to pitch in the AL. clemens, pedro, etc pitched inside (which is what you have to do in order to be successful ) and threw at guys for YEARS and never had to step foot in the batters box. GUTS i tell you GUTS!!!
the NL is another story.
sitting back and waiting for some fat, bloated, non-athlete like "big papi" to hit a three run homer is not baseball.
