SWAC?
So, I know why the Ivy League doesn't participate in the playoffs, but why exactly doesn't the SWAC? Anyone?

The "Classics" pack the house and bring in more than any playoffs could make...

Much more than that, Hoagie.
They're really bad, Sundown. That's the long and short of it. They can't compete. Though, if they did, the Selection Committee would line up three f**king SWAC teams for Appalachian State to plow through on the way to Chattanooga.

Re: SWAC?
Doesn't the SWAC have a title game between the top teams from each division that they are committed to? I think it occurs in December on a Saturday that playoffs are occurring. That eliminates the top team from each division from playing in the playoffs. If one of the second place teams had a good enough resume, they could be considered. Prairie View A&M is the only SWAC team who could have been considered this year. They were 9-1 but had two D2 games on their schedule. They also had a game with Sam Houston State cancelled during the hurricane season.

Huh. I kinda feel the same way about the NEC and the Pioneer now. I'm not sure how these teams really stack up to the FCS "big-boys" in the SoCon or CAA. Not enough to justify an autobid, anyway.Cap'n Cat wrote:Much more than that, Hoagie.

But, what the hell do I know? I'll probably eat my words when a Pioneer team wins the NC in 2010 or some sh*t.

Right now, they can't. Albany is the best from either conference & they went 1-3 against playoff conference teams, beating only Hofstra in OT. The NEC is increasing scholarship limits, though, so they may be able to compete in several years. The Pioneer League is staying non-scholarship & also isn't getting an autobid.

Idk about you guys but i would be all for every conference getting an autobid in the future. This would make the FCS as a whole stronger and possibly get us more attention. And also San Diego needs to get scholarships so they can join the Great West!!

...says the fan of the team that just played Maine.... ....and deep down, you know they'd line up Northern Iowa so they could fumble another championship away....Cap'n Cat wrote:Much more than that, Hoagie.

BTW...those are some ugly fokking uniforms....are your colors purple and black? blue and black? purple and blue?...make up your fokking minds. Are the purple's supposed to match? Hel!, even Western can accurately color swatch their helmets to their jerseys. Seriously, you guys belong in the SWAC with that color scheme... ..

Oh, I feel the same way when it comes right down to it. I'd like to see as many FCS conferences get a team, autobid or otherwise, into the playoffs year-to-year. Mostly because it would help to show the country that a playoff system can be all-inclusive and not elitist and ultra-exclusive like the BCS.SUUTbird wrote:Idk about you guys but i would be all for every conference getting an autobid in the future. Yeah, I kinda like the conference auto-bid system, even though the bottom feeding conferences which get into the playoffs are normally ranked outside of the top 20. Everybody has a chance to make it to the playoffs if they win their conference. I don't feel too sorry for the fourth- and fifth-ranked teams from a conference not making the cut, even though they might be ranked higher than an auto-bid. The answer is to win out in the regular season!
