There's a significant difference between political idealism and realism. Ron Paul was idealism. McCain was realism. Besides, I was taking a bullet for the team, trying to prevent exactly what has happened.Grizalltheway wrote:Hey, if you don't want to vote for someone that at least comes close to embodying your political beliefs, it's no skin off my ass.AZGrizFan wrote:

I just really think we should all vote for who we think is the best guy for what we believe in. If we keep letting the political radio/TV tell us who we have to vote for we ain't ever gonna get what we want. We may not anyway but if you believed in what RP was saying then you sent the wrong message by voting for McCain.AZGrizFan wrote:There's a significant difference between political idealism and realism. We need to stop the 1/2 measures thing and if RP had gotten a significant # of votes from those that wanted him but voted McCain then the temperature may be very different in this country with the Republican party seeing that and the the Democrats seeing it as well.
We know what we did and we know it didn't work but we're gonna keep doing it anyway. We are holding back guys like RP and any party forming strength by not showing that we support that kind of thinking.

Gotta be careful with those initials, Ursus. For a second, I thought you meant a certain OC who fell out of favor with Griz fans....

Well hell that's good news AZ! I honestly hadn't seen the posts where you had advocated a change in your former position from around election time. Wish I had paid more attention then I could have saved the argument for someone that could use it.

Re: To be fair to President Obama....
I have been seeing this kind of nonsense start to creep out. The idea that if people aren't satisfied with Obama's performance it's because he's Black. And it's just that: Nonsense.
In those three videos there was ONE guy in one video who indicated that he had a problem with Obama because he was Black. Obama did not win the majority of the White vote in the 2008 Presidential election. But no democrat has won the majority of the White vote in any Presidential election since at least as far back as 1972. Obama got a greater percentage of the White vote than Kerry did. He got a larger percentage of the White vote than Carter or Mondale did against Reagan. He got a larger percentage of the White vote than Clinton got against Bush the elder and about the same as Clinton got against Dole.
To the extent that race played a role in the 2008 election, exit polls indicate that it worked in Obama's favor. In other words, exit polling suggest that more people voted FOR him because he was Black than against him for that reason.
Obama's in trouble now becuase of his performance. It's as simple as that. It's not because he's Black.
And you should've expected it. I said from the beginning that we were electing a guy to be the chief executive of the United States when he wasn't qualified to be the manager of a 7-11. So here we hare.

Ron Paul ain't doin' too bad. Got his son nominated for the Senate, and half the Young Republicans are Paulistas.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:
