I rank AE ahead of Flacco but I don't get the laughable comment. If you put AE on Delaware and Flacco on Appy St in that national title game and the score probably isn't any different and Appy St would still win. AE accomplished a whole lot more, but he also did so because he had a lot more around him. If you take him out and put another great QB into that role and they both succeed, then it's not like a whole lot really separates the two.

Wow here are some bitter hen fans.

Edwards will likely not be an all pro NFL player, but you have no idea the character of AE if one of your three options is jail. Classless post.

I heard that there's a job as a safety consultant with Lawn Boy waiting for him whenever his NFL career is over.

At worst AE will be a millionaire in 3 years, I don't feel so bad for the best FCS player of the decade.

I don't think it's laughable. I was very impressed watching Flacco with UD, and yes Edwards was impressive also. I'm not big on judging a player by his stats because the team and it's offensive style have a major impact on numbers. I went with Flacco by a whisker due to what I saw. Crisp passer, he could see the field and hit the open reciever. Edwards was a better runner.

Felton wasn't even your best back at Furman, Louis Ivory was and fits the criteria of this thread.

Ivory is an interesting name that hasn't gotten the run he should have mainly because he played at the same time Peterson did and was overshadowed to a degree; which is saying something when a player who had consecutive seasons of 1376 yds with 14 TD's, 2079 yds with 16 TD's which included a 301 game against the NC GSU and the Payton Award, and 1492 with 19 TD's which would have been more had he not hurt his knee.

Apparently you never saw Brian Westbrook play a I-AA game. Westbrook was the most dangerous player I have ever seen at the I-AA level and it isn't even close. Westbrook could kill you in three ways.. rushing.. receiving.. and returning. He is the ONLY player inn the history of NCAA football to rush and receive for over 1000 yrds in the same season. Westbrook's talent was obviously greater then AP's.. as was established by their professional careers. While AP struggled to get off the bench with the Bears.. Westbrook became the same kind of player in the NFL that he was in college.. one of the most feared in the game.
But you can't base how good they were in college on NFL starts and stats.
After watching Westbrook run, receive, return all over Delaware for several seasons, I would have to say that Westbrook may have been the best player ever to play against the Hens. His college stats back that up. He broke so many Division I records, including FBS, that it would be challenging to find a better college football player ever to play at the FCS level than Brian Westbrook, regardless of his many accomplishments in the NFL.
On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.

:thumb: Omar Cuff was a beast.

If it weren't for him Flacco would have been 0-2 vs Towson.

My vote goes to AP. 9000+ yards is mind blowing.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

While on the subject of best players of the decade I thought it would be fun to post some of Adrian Peterson's stats from his GSU career as they are almost unbelievable and many will probably never be duplicated:

Career rushing yards including playoffs: 9145 NCAA division 1 record
Career playoff rushing yards: 2585 NCAA division 1 record
Career rushing TD's: 111 NCAA division 1 record
Regular season 100 yd rushing games: 40 NCAA division 1 record
Playoff 100 yard rushing games: 14 NCAA Division 1 record
Consecutive 100 yd rushing games: 48 NCAA division 1 record
Total 100 yd rushing games: 54 NCAA division 1 record

That's every major rushing record there is not to mention he had the championship game record as well in 1999...

The number of NCAA and SoCon records is too numerous to list but just let this sink in... he had back to back seasons (98 & 99) of over 2600 yards and at least 34 TD's rushing.

I agree with your comment and on fitting the thread, but you know Felton was just a different kind of back. While Furman has had some strong fullback types ( traditional fullback types ;) ) I can't remember one that could run over people like Jerome.

With that said, Louis was a phenom. The only back better at Furman may have been Jennings (but heck that was pre-I-AA). I wish and have always wished he would have been healthy in the 2001 NC Game

Ivory definitely belongs in this list. I should have listed him with Martin and J-train. But I'll still place J-train above Ivory. You can't go by yards rushed due to the difference in position and utilization. I hate to say this, but behind a different O-line, and with a better coach, Felton could have been unstoppable.
