So now that you're in NYC, did you extend an invite for him to come to the sausage eating contest at your house?

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
He was "not allowed to compete" because of contract disputes with the organization that sponsors the event.
It's like saying that a professional athlete (I mean in a real sport) is "not allowed to compete" because he or she didn't sign a contract with their team.

It wasnt a dispute with the sponsors it was a dispute with the organization that sanctions it.JayJ79 wrote:He was "not allowed to compete" because of contract disputes with the organization that sponsors the event.

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
So because he didn't sign the contract I should feel sorry for him because he "wasn't allowed to compete"???? He wasn't allowed to compete as I wasn't because, like me, didn't sign a contract. IF he was so interested in competing why didn't he sign on the dotted line?
Should he have been allowed to crash the contest UNH?

He wont sign the contract because it would ban him from competing in other events sanctioned by other orginizations.grizzaholic wrote:So because he didn't sign the contract I should feel sorry for him because he "wasn't allowed to compete"???? Secondly, I have read in several places he was waived on stage by someone after showing up as a spectatorl. Fans in the crowd had been chanting let him eat. After being waved on stage by someone, not sure who, he was grabbed by NYPD and arrested

Joey Chestnut owns his ass anyway. 15 minutes of fame is up for Kobiashi.

So if you were there and were watching the show and got waved up onto stage by some random guy/gal you would go up there? Great logic there bud.UNHWildCats wrote:He wont sign the contract because it would ban him from competing in other events sanctioned by other orginizations.grizzaholic wrote:So because he didn't sign the contract I should feel sorry for him because he "wasn't allowed to compete"???? True, this would've been the 4th year in a row he would have told him he's yesterday's news.andy7171 wrote:Joey Chestnut owns his ass anyway. 15 minutes of fame is up for Kobiashi.

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
I have no problem with him not being allowed to compete if he doesn't sign the contract.
But getting arrested over it seems a bit much.
(unless he really did do something disruptive or dangerous)
of course, it's all just a big publicity stunt anyway (which worked, I guess, as it has gotten people talking about it)

This guy is an idiot!
I also think this was just a stunt to try to get more publicity to this freak show, and I can't believe some people actually refer to this as a "sport".

Well, there needed to be a separate branch of the IFOCE (International Federation of Competitive Eating) - after awhile, the bureacracy just gets hard for one group to handle.appmaj wrote:Major League Eating...How does this exist????

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
With so many starving people in the world I think it's absolutely stupid to have eating contests. Just stupid.

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
perhaps they should get rid of all-you-can-eat buffets too.BigSkyBears wrote:With so many starving people in the world I think it's absolutely stupid to have eating contests. Just stupid.
and steakhouses.
perhaps everyone should be forced to become vegitarian, since a non-meat diet has a lower impact, and the natural resources can be stretched farther in order to feed more people.....
don't get me wrong, I think eating contests are dumb and rather disgusting. but getting rid of them wouldn't help the starving people of the world in any real way.

Re: Kobayashi Arrested At Nathan's Hot Dog Contest
I think morally we should get rid of all you can eat buffets. I know I've stopped eating at them. I view that stuff as gluttony. I'm not saying the government should shut them all down, but I just think it's morally wrong.JayJ79 wrote:perhaps they should get rid of all-you-can-eat buffets too.BigSkyBears wrote:With so many starving people in the world I think it's absolutely stupid to have eating contests.
