But with him going to Miami he gets lots more $$$ in merchandising sales, right? That makes up for any loss of income correct?

LeBron will make more $$ because of enodrsements and eventually winning a championship. The longer he goes without winning one his overall marketability will diminish.grizzaholic wrote:But with him going to Miami he gets lots more $$$ in merchandising sales, right? Re: Did LeBron Choose Miami For Greed?
This whole tax thing confuses me.
For my job, I occasionally work out of state, yet I've never paid taxes in any state other than my home state, since my wage is paid by my district office, which is in my home state. Is that incorrect?
And as far as "greed" goes, is LeBron's situation really any different than any player that switches teams through free agency? Sure, it gets alot more press and hype, but players change teams all the time when someone else makes a better offer. Is that "greed"?
And does that carry over into non-sports? If some other company offers you a better salary, and you switch jobs, does that make you greedy?
(don't get me wrong, I dislike LeBron, and the NBA in general, I'm just looking at the big picture)

Yes. No other player has ever had an hour long special on ESPN to announce his decision. LeBron is perfectly within his right to switch teams, but the TV special and the lies he told during the special make it hard for me to respect him.JayJ79 wrote:This whole tax thing confuses me.

He could win the next 10 titles in a row and I will never look at him the way I look at Bird, Magic, Kobe or Jordan.

Basketball Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy took to the airwaves Wednesday night and became the most high-profile person to date to back the rumors. "It ain't no rumor," he told a Houston ESPN Radio station, calling the claims "absolutely true" and "absolutely horrifying." He went on:
"Unfortunately, my sources in the NBA tell me that it's absolutely true. My sources, and they're legit, tell me that the only people that didn't know it was happening was LeBron and me."

It's professional sports; it's about greed.
With that said, I think he's also looking for his best opportunity to get that elusive ring.
