BP: Unsure if capping plan will go ahead

Post by Hansel »

BP says there's no guarantee a plan to cap the leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico will continue after the federal government questioned its risks.

BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles told the Associated Press Wednesday that the energy giant is trying to resolve the government's concerns. Suttles said the government wants to verify that the piping in the well is intact and that oil would stay contained if BP shuts the well in.

"I don't know whether we will get that approval or not, " Suttles said. "I hope we do."

National Incident Commander Thad Allen said in a statement Tuesday night that the cap process "may benefit from additional analysis" that would be performed overnight and Wednesday, USA TODAY colleague Rick Jervis reports. Allen did not say when the tests would start.

The decision was made after Allen met with federal officials, scientists and geologists.

.....well at least they removed the first cap before they decided that there may be issues with the new cap

Maybe they should send this to a Senate subcommittee who can analyze it, then bring it up for a lengthy confirmation hearing.
By then, BP will have finished the relief well. What a bunch of buffoons. :ohno:

Barry and Rahm don't want to let a good crisis go to waste. Got to get cap and trade passed in the next two weeks.

They're such small-time thinkers that it is embarrassing. Even a dim bulb like W could see that this event is clearly the fault of Venezuela and that we need to take action against their socialist regime that oppresses women.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
