EWU AD and fans saying the red turf must be a good idea "because Montana hates it."

Yeah, he's using it as a selling point for donors and I think that's a smart way to go. If you check the original thread from about 5-6 months ago where they announced it I said on that thread that I didn't think it was gonna be great but hat it could end up being a rally thing for the fan base and create some pride just like our old Copper Uni's did. :thumb:

Marc Hughes, EWU’s associate athletic director for development, and the person who first approached Roos and his wife about helping to fund the Red Turf Project, said their initial gift gave the university the charge it needed to raise over $1 million for Woodward Field improvements.

“After their initial pledge, I was able to tell the Eagle Nation about the red turf and how much Montana fans hate it,” Hughes explained. “And almost every donor who heard that said, ‘I’m in!’”

I'm not wild about ASU's - they look like Iowa or the Steelers IMO.
Dude, it could get worse. My RS freshamn year we had pants like that and a matching yellow jersey. It was bad enough we sucked bad, but the humiliation came before kickoff. :ohno:
Does this bring back painful memories?

Per some of the team on Facebook ( I am 'friends' with almost all of them) we already have the new Uni's. They got their pictures done last week, had a session for promos and they like them a lot. Also stated that the fans are gonna love 'em (we'll see)

I am plugging for an early pic or two....just maybe we'll get a preview on here if I can finagle a shot or 2.

Those are way better than your usual uniforms.
I agree, I would be happy if we had to keep our current uniforms if we switched to the gold pants. We should only wear all black on Black Saturday...like it used to be.

Those unis are basic from Nike. A lot of schools ripoff jerseys. Just those Miami ones I can think of Montana, ASU, Oregon State, and Nevada. I am sure there are many others. We've had that style since 2005 (and at the time we wore Russell).

New Mexico State came to mind as well.

There's only so many jersey designs out there, and most of the original ones are complete garbage (in my eyes at least, I'm a fan of simplicity...any piping is bad piping in my eyes...also anything other than block font is a crime that undoes any simplicity of font...Montana's previous two jerseys before the 07-09 ones (effectively Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts rip-offs with font added to the front) were horrible in my eyes. The last copper and gold jerseys...gorgeous.

It goes the same way in all sports...there's only so many effective designs. The Ottawa Senators use the same design as the Pittsburgh Penguins presently and the best jerseys the Penguins ever had were slightly re-worked Detroit Red Wings jerseys. My favorite NFL jerseys are basically the same design (Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns use the same colors...effectiveness lays in the color scheme, which Green Bay wins in my eyes).

I'm almost terrified any time I hear of a team I root for going for a new jersey because I simply hate most of the 'modern' designs...except when one of my teams has a modern design...Montana changing from the Miami designs to the present designs was glorious to me...and now I'm terrified of the new changes.
