Women's Golf Hall of Famer Patty Berg Captained the undefeated 50th Street Tigers, a Minneapolis youth football team. One of the members of the team was Bud Wilkinson, future Minnesota Gophers star and Oklahoma Sooners Football Coach, who lead the Sooners to the record longest winning streak of 47 games from 1953-57. The Gophers won 3 National Championships with Wilkinson as a player and coached Oklahoma to 3 Championships. Berg won 15 LPGA Majors and 60 LPGA tournaments.

In the '70s Tehran, Iran, had a four-team high school league playing football.

One team, the Trojans, represented The Community School, an international K-12 school, with team members also supplied by Iranzamin and the British School. The other three teams (VIkings, Raiders and Phantoms) were all from Tehran American School, a Department of Defense school for US citizens.

The teams played a seven game schedule, with an afternoon double header scheduled each weekend. All games were played at TAS.
