Women's Golf Hall of Famer Patty Berg Captained the undefeated 50th Street Tigers, a Minneapolis youth football team. One of the members of the team was Bud Wilkinson, future Minnesota Gophers star and Oklahoma Sooners Football Coach, who lead the Sooners to the record longest winning streak of 47 games from 1953-57. The Gophers won 3 National Championships with Wilkinson as a player and coached Oklahoma to 3 Championships. Berg won 15 LPGA Majors and 60 LPGA tournaments.

In 1968, NBC cut away from the Raiders-Jets football game with a little more than a minute to play to show the movie Heidi. The network's offices were deluged with phone calls from angry fans who missed seeing Oakland score two touchdowns in 9 seconds to beat New York 43-32. The contest forever became known as the "Heidi Game."

When Blanda was with the Oilers, he led the AFL in TD passes one year and picks the next.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

The last time EWU beat Montana in Cheney was 1991.

Pete Gogolak, Cornell, became the first soccer style kicker in college football in 1961. In 1964 he became the first soccer style kicker in the pros, with the Buffalo Bills. The style became so successful that the old, straight on kickers soon became obsolete.

Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights played its last intercollegiate football game after an undefeated season in 1959, and now claims to have the longest undefeated streak in college football.
On the note of mascots, you have seen trinity before if you have ever seen espn's worst and or most unique college masket, the troll, and last I knew it was the only college/highschool to use the troll as a mascot

I guess 20 years is "soon" to you.
Mark Moseley of the Redskins kicked with his toe in the early 1980s. Pretty accurate, too, as straight-on kickers tend to be. The catch is that the range is usually a tad limited.

Re: Random Football Facts
In the '70s Tehran, Iran, had a four-team high school league playing football.
One team, the Trojans, represented The Community School, an international K-12 school, with team members also supplied by Iranzamin and the British School. The other three teams (VIkings, Raiders and Phantoms) were all from Tehran American School, a Department of Defense school for US citizens.
The teams played a seven game schedule, with an afternoon double header scheduled each weekend. All games were played at TAS.

Hey numbnuts, unless you're going to contribute unique football trivia and tidbits that aren't intended to be smack, go spew on someone else's thread.

Re: Random Football Facts
Here's one they will like.
In 2003, New Mexico placekicker Katie Hnida became the first female player to score in a Division I-A game. She kicked two extra points in a 72-8 win over Texas State-San Marcos.
Don't know how accurate that is, because I'm sure plenty of chicks have scored at a Division I-A game. Oh, in. Carry on.

Before a game against the St. Louis Rams in 1981, Baltimore Colts OL Robert Pratt pulled his hamstring... while running out for the coin toss.
