Quarterfinal Week - Breakdown

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Playoffs

NOVA 27-31 JMU
WEBER 13-24 UMT
UNH 34-36 UNI
RICH 33-13 APPST

  • Best Performance: Richmond 33, (#2) Appalachian St. 13 - The Spiders outrush the three-time defending champs 238-39, including 133 yards and 3 TDs from RB Josh Vaughan.

Worst Performance: (#2) Appalachian St. 33, Richmond 13 - Armanti Edwards throws 5 interceptions to cost himself a chance at three championship rings. On the bright side, the Walter Payton award was voted on before this game, so he's still the favorite to walk away with that honor.

Most Surprising Result: Montana/Northern Iowa - After unexpectedly early exits in the 2007 playoffs, the Griz & Panthers surprise most everyone by making the final four in 2008.

Gridiron Classic

JVILLE 0-28 ALB

  • Best Performance: Albany 28, Jacksonville 0 - Great Danes dominate the third annual Gridiron Classic, mostly thanks to 271 yards and 4 touchdowns from RB Dave McCarty.

Worst Performance: Jacksonville 0, Albany 28 - The Dolphins make the Pioneer League look pretty weak by getting doubled in yardage.

Most Surprising Result: Dave McCarty - He's only a junior, so NEC defenses will have to deal with him yet again.
