Apparently the coaches and the Media didn't know about EWU winning the BSC this year. I thought BF would have told them.

They're just giving Montana their "last meal." A nice big juicy steak with all the fixins to make you happy, but in the end, you're still going to the chair. The reign of the Griz is done.

Interesting that Pflugrad cast his 1st place vote for NAU. Apparently he didn't get BF's message either  .

This also confirms that SuperHornet is not a coach or media.

You can add "life long cowboy fan" and "woman's sport enthusiast" to they's list.

I'd say they is more of a Sacred City Sirens fan - I don't think they has ever admitted to "painting up" for a Hornets game.

I don't know what it means, but it scares the crap outta me

I think you missed the thread where I mentioned painting up for Hornets gymnastics about 12 years ago....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Hmmm, interesting. I would have thought there would be more of a disparity between the two. I did not think they'd be the same. I'm having a very difficult time this year. Maybe I'll just run with these two, I don't know. The words of Vinnie Barbarino ringing in my ears, "I'm SO confused!".

i wonder if UM's coach picked NAU for 1st place because 2nd on down will be close with no dominant team of the bottom 8...

Well according to the votes, there's 3 tiers. UM by themselves, EWU, MSU, Weber, NAU in the second tier, with SAC, UNC, PSU, and ISU in the bottom tier.

I don't think I could rank the teams right now either J, at least do so and be happy with it. I think there are distinct tiers though.

I'd have UM, EWU, MSU and NAU in the top tier (place within interchangeable), Weber and SAC in the middle tier, with UNC, PSU, and ISU in the bottom tier.

Weber has a big drop off from having 11 players on the team last year. It will be interesting to see how that translates to their performance this season.

I think it's more because Pflugrad was NAU's OC in 2001. He also coached with Souers for several years at Montana under Read.

I'll go with 3 tiers for this season.

1st:
  • UM
EWU (lose their passing game and will need young players to step up)
MSU (they return a lot and should contend)
2nd:
  • NAU (until they win a game in the 2nd half of the season, they will remain a middle tier team)
WSU (are set up for a huge drop off this season, they could pull some surprises though)
Sac State (need to beat the 3rd tier teams and pull a few surprises to gain some respect)
3rd:
  • UNC
    PSU
    ISU

Obviously these are interchangeable and I agree that the line is blurred between the 1st and 2nd tier. It will be interesting and entertaining to see how things play out :twocents:

I can't really argue with that either. Remains to be seen though if we lost our passing game. Yeah, we lost Nichols, Boyce and Tony Davis, but BLM should continue the passing game pretty decently. We know he can throw the ball, it's just a matter if he can keep the picks down, which he couldn't do at SMU.

MSU should not finish anywhere near the bottom of the conference this season and I don't think WSU will finish near the top either. However I wouldn't mind seeing Sac finish that high. ;)

Some people have been a bit offended that the actor, Lee Marvin, is buried in a grave alongside 3 and 4-star generals at Arlington National Cemetery. His marker gives his name, rank (PVT) and service (USMC). Nothing else. Here's a guy who was only a famous movie star who served his time, why the heck does he rate burial with these guys? Well, following is the amazing answer:

I always liked Lee Marvin, but didn't know the extent of his Corps experiences.

In a time when many Hollywood stars served their country in the armed forces often in rear echelon posts where they were carefully protected, only to be trotted out to perform for the cameras in war bond promotions, Lee Marvin was a genuine hero. He won the Navy Cross at Iwo Jima. There is only one higher Naval award... the Medal Of Honor!

If that is a surprising comment on the true character of the man, he credits his sergeant with an even greater show of bravery.

Dialog from "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson": His guest was Lee Marvin... Johnny said, "Lee, I'll bet a lot of people are unaware that you were a Marine in the initial landing at Iwo Jima ..and that during the course of that action you earned the Navy Cross and were severely wounded."

"Yeah, yeah... I got shot square in the bottom and they gave me the Cross for securing a hot spot about halfway up Suribachi. Bad thing about getting shot up on a mountain is guys getting shot hauling you down. But, Johnny, at Iwo , I served under the bravest man I ever knew... We both got the Cross the same day, but what he did for his Cross made mine look cheap in comparison. That dumb guy actually stood up on Red beach and directed his troops to move forward and get the hell off the beach.. Bullets flying by, with mortar rounds landing everywhere and he stood there as the main target of gunfire so that he could get his men to safety. He did this on more than one occasion because his men's safety was more important than his own life.

That Sergeant and I have been lifelong friends. When they brought me off Suribachi we passed the Sergeant and he lit a smoke and passed it to me, lying on my belly on the litter and said, "Where'd they get you Lee?" "Well Bob.... if you make it home before me, tell Mom to sell the outhouse!"

Johnny, I'm not lying, Sergeant Keeshan was the bravest man I ever knew.
The Sergeant's name is Bob Keeshan. You and the world know him as Captain Kangaroo."

On another note, there was this wimpy little man (who passed away) on PBS, gentle and quiet. Mr. Rogers is another of those you would least suspect of being anything but what he now portrays to our youth. But Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Navy Seal, combat-proven in Vietnam with over twenty-five confirmed kills to his name. He wore a long-sleeved sweater on TV, to cover the many tattoos on his forearm and biceps. He was a master in small arms and hand-to-hand combat, able to disarm or kill in a heartbeat

After the war Mr. Rogers became an ordained Presbyterian minister and therefore a pacifist. Vowing to never harm another human and also dedicating the rest of his life to trying to help lead children on the right path in life... He hid away the tattoos and his past life and won our hearts with his quiet wit and charm..
