Becketts back tonite. Lowrie came back yesterday and did well. Martinez should be back in 10 days or I believe. Hermedia this weekend... likely tomorrow... Ellsbury could start a rehab in about 10 days

Ya being 4 games behind Tampa for the Wild Card the Sox need to make sure everyone is healthy down the stretch. This season has definitely been a crazy one for Boston.

Pedroia doesnt want rehab assignment when cleared to play... says Red Sox need the injured players more then Paw Sox do.




I think its possible they could forgo a rehab with him... but if Lowrie is hitting the ball well theres no reason to forgo it completely... get him 3 games at AAA to get his timing down then activate him.

As for Victor Martinez... I would forgo a rehab with him... because even a bad timing Victor is better then the options at catcher right now.

Red Sox have designated Jeremy Hermida and have called up Ryan Kalish to take his spot on the roster. Boston also called up pitcher Dustin Richardson... No word yet on whos spot he will take... its possible Manny Delcarmen will be traded before the deadline its also possibly Ramon Ramirez will be placed on the DL after being struck in the face by a ball during batting practice today.

he wasnt acquired as an answer. This was a move to solidify a backup catcher beyond this season.

You gotta remember though the Sox have 2 huge acquisitions starting rehab assignments today... 2008 MVP Dustin Pedroia and speedster Jacoby Ellsbury.

All the really need to do is get a quality reliever or two on the roster. The offense hasnt been the issue and neither has starting pitching.

That could be addressed in August when teams will take back less to dump salary and they are also getting two SP in AAA into relief mode for August callups...

Will Boston make the playoffs? Probably not... but if they do... watch out... they will be dangerous.

it was... Lowell says the talks never went too far but it was talked about... The Sox would have traded him to Texas and then with Bostons knowledge would send him to NY.
