He was a OL at Rutgers, but at 280lbs, he'll play DT at UD. Good news as that's an area that UD needs help.
Man I still miss GoHens, I'm sure this actually happened a while ago & it just comes out now.

UD Gets DL Transfer from Rutgers
Make Delaware Football Great Again
Re: UD Gets DL Transfer from Rutgers
This can't be a bad thing.
The article says he was one of the top DL recruits in the East in high school but Rutgers converted him to OL and he never got comfortable. Hopefully he gets his comfort level back on our DL. We need the help.

Perfect kind of a pickup for the Hens. The defensive line was a question coming in, and with this kid and the earlier transfer from Hofstra it starts to fill the holes that graduated last year. Obviously still have to see if he can play (seems tall for a DT but we'll see) but getting more bodies into the mix isn't a bad thing.
And yes, if GoHens was still up we would've known about this weeks ago. However, for every plus side there's a downside. With the NewsJournal's article about whether UD should chase the money of a big time FBS game we would've had the same rehash of UD's scheduling and how KC is to blame for all that is wrong in the world. We've seen that thread more times than I can count (and I can count pretty high).

Matthew Hardison *
Defensive End – 6-4, 250
Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township HS
Originally a member of the 2006 Rutgers recruiting class who enrolled in January and will be able to participate in spring practice … versatile performer who has played in all phases of the game – on defense as defensive end and linebacker, on offense as a tight end, and on special teams… had 80 tackles, playing mainly at linebacker as a senior in 2005 for head coach Dom Lepore at Freehold Township High School … registered 30 solo stops, five sacks, two forced fumbles – on offense, he had 10 receptions for 150 yards as a tight end … rated the No. 54 inside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com, as well as the state's No. 22 prospect in 2005 … Prep Star All-East selection … earned All-District honors … also a standout basketball player and weight man on the track and field team.
Coach Lepore on Hardison: "Matt is just a terrific athlete who projects as a rush end coming off the edge. He has great explosion. As a junior, he had never touched a shot put before, but he came out for the track team and ended up throwing 55 feet and making the Meet of Champions. That's the kind of explosion he has."
Had an ACL issue a couple years ago (hopefully resolved) but seems like a good athlete who can be used on the end also.

Even with all the crap you mention going on the site was still a great place for information. Wonder if Hensrock would be willing to seek help moderating or something. If he doesn't feel like dealing maybe he can sell the domain to another Hen fan?GannonFan wrote:... And yes, if GoHens was still up we would've known about this weeks ago. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Oh, I agree fullheartedly. HR did a great job putting a site together that was a virtual goldmine of information for people interested in the Hens. I'd certainly love to have it back up and I'd be the first to volunteer to help. It almost doesn't feel like football season is coming up without GoHens operational.Zymergy wrote:Even with all the crap you mention going on the site was still a great place for information. Moves like this could push UD over the playoff slump. Hope the kid's a player.GannonFan wrote:Perfect kind of a pickup for the Hens. Don't forget, Howie Long (DT) was 6'5, and Ted "The Stork" Hendricks (LB) was 6'7 (both NFL HOF's who played for the Raiders). Seems this kid can play either position.
Good luck.

I actually sent him an email saying the exact same thing. I could see how overwhelming it would be trying to keep on eye on every post. I told him I would be willing to keep him updated when certain members of our board who were removed returned or if a poster was routinely posting slanderous remarks so that he could make a decision to remove them or not. It's a pretty easy fix. He'd still have the final say but would have help identifying the problems. He never got back top me. I know the guy who runs this board offered to buy the site. My gut feeling is that it will return. Maybe he's hoping that this cool down period will help bring the board back to what it was...
This is a great pick up for the Hens...
