In 2009, Coach Laycock's base salary was $179,400 @ W&M. I don't know what else he might make, but am pretty sure it is no where near $400K.

Yeah, KC's in the neighborhood of low $300's, certainly one of the higher ones out there. Still has to get the Hens to the playoffs this year, though.

I didn't comment because (a) I couldn't find anything more recent than 2007 compensation, and (b) because I wondered what his "total" package was - I'm sure he's got some car allowances, media comp, bonus comp, maybe some memberships, etc. factored in. For what he's accomplished he's certainly undercompensated from a base salary perspective IMO, but he might make up for it with some of the other comp - that stuff is kind of hard to dig up.

Yeah, I'm sure he gets more than that... but, I believe he takes a lower pay so his staff can get more. That's just a rumor and such, but I believe it.

If Wolford leaves for another college or pro coaching job in 2010 or 2011, he’ll owe YSU $200,000. If he leaves in 2012, it’s lowered to $125,000 and $100,000 in 2013.

But if he leaves for a Bowl Championship Series school (which includes conferences such as the Big Ten and SEC) in 2012 or 2013, he’ll owe nothing.

The state of Utah lists on a website all state employee salaries. The Weber St coach base salary shows as $133K. The basketball coach shows $200K


I know in 2005, 50 of the 120 FBS coaches made over $1Mil a year.

Also in our state is Utah and Utah St, Utah's coach makes 1.2 Mil and USU's makes $225K. I can't find Southern Utah's.So I would say the state of Utah has lower paying salaries at the various DI schools.

Weber also has one of the smallest budgets in the Big Sky.

Hey, my daughter's on a dance team. A really competitive one. Brings in more revenue than the football team. In some cases, the dance team's an asset! Maybe not at the top tier schools.......but I digress.
