Yeah, just like we watched UR pummel JMU in Richmond in 04', in 06' and 08'

Mcveyrl: C'mon, JMU would never join the Sunbelt, I personally would start a riot. I don't intend this to sound harsh but look at the academics of the Sunbelt members, never :o

I know a CAA/Socon/Big South 'ish D1A conference would not be feared by all but a conference with solid schools, many within driving distance of each other could be fun and gain a lot of fan support in the mid atlantic region :twocents:

You guys may not care whether your stadium has a track, but I think most people on here would think they are a big deal and would rather not have them, as the closer you are to the action, the better.

It is a big deal when you're talking having your closest fans around 40 feet from the sideline as opposed to 80, and your furthest fans are about 1/3-1/4 closer. Take a look at aerial views of I-AA stadiums without tracks compared to stadiums with tracks and you'll see what I'm talking about. The one thing I hated about Bridgeforth until recently. And since most I-A stadiums now longer have tracks, having one looks bush league.
I agree with most of that. It's not like we want the track, but its something we can live with.

I actually went over to the stadium today during lunch and walked around (mainly to see the scoreboard and painted field) and its still pretty darn nice - track and all. I didn't want all this hate to cloud my opinion.

Actually, come Nov 7 it won't be a problem for JMU to bring more fans than their 1k allotment. Considering UR has in their 1st 8 games before hosting JMU:
-@ UVGay
-Elon. Elon loses playoff game last seaosn @ UR by 3 after missing 2 FGs in the last 90 seconds of the 4th Qtr and has a lot more coming back, including Riddle.
-UD. We all rememember how UD in the 1 pt loss had the last second fg blocked and has A LOT more coming back.
-@ Nova. Again, a lot more coming back.
-@ UNH

With only 7 starters and a new coach to go along with their hot shot QB transfer, assuming UR holds serve against Coastal, @ UMass, and TU, UR will be fortunate to win one of the 5 above and come into the JMU game 4-4. Sure JMU will likely have 2-3 losses, but by Nov 7, a ticket to JMU @ UR might not be some hard to come by.

I went by y'all's campus to check out the new stadium last weekend and it was beautiful! And maybe my judgment is clouded as an App fan... but, the track is not a big deal. It's a great venue. :thumb:

Really? Tell me why we could do better? Are you planning on bringing the South Carolina State band up here for a game soon?
Wofford is a school of 1350 undergrads yet we have a stadium that seats 13k. You (the University of Richmond) should be able to do better simply because you have 2-3x as many students as well as a more prestigious program, it's that simple.

If you had followed along, you would have seen that UR built as large a stadium as was allowed by the City of Richmond. So not sure how UR could have "done better".

Like most schools, over half of JMU's signees are typically early commits. But from the ones who weren't, Just from the past 3 seasons, according to Rivals:
-Marquis Woodard: 2 star DB Frederick, MD
-Anthony McDaniel: 2 star DL Upper Marlboro, MD (initially committed to UR before London left)

I'm calling BS unless you have some type of evidence. The 4 I listed were all offered by UR as you can see by clicking on the link then clicking on under "College choices" "show all". UR wouldn't give them an offer if they couldn't get them in.

I also forgot to put down Dae'Quan Scott from 09' who initially gave UR a verbal.

Lee's Scott Switches Commitment to JMU

Now lets see if you can come up with 5 that UR signed in the last 3 yrs who were also offered by JMU.

Yes, the kids you mention were all offered by UR. McDaniel, Woodyard and Scott all initially verballed to UR. We then needed them to bring their grades up to get in ... because of this, they decided they would rather go to JMU where they wouldn't have to bring their grades up. I am unsure about the other two.

I looked at your signees from the last 3 seasons on Rivals, and according to them, you are correct on the 5 you mentioned, but there aren't any additional to those 5. So we might have a tie there. :coffee:

I think this is just GREAT! What hatred is being expressed....by both sides!!! I want to add a little more hatred! I just cannot stand the Barneys! One of you "purple creatures" mentioned JMU's wins at "old UR Stadium" in 2004, 2006 and 2008. Well, turnabout is, as they say, fair play. Recall how the Barneys died in the SPIDERS WEB ON YOUR TURF in 2005, 2007 and 2009! Perhaps the recent trend of the visiting team winning the game will be joyfully changed this Nov. 6th, when the Barneys go limping back to Harrisonburg after being injected with massive amounts of UR Spider venum!! While you're at it, you can leave your JMU Marching Dorks back in Harrisonburg to greet the limping Dukes when they return to their dog house, I mean campus, the night of November 6th! Your Marching Dorks are not welcomed on the UR campus. I think it was great that the stadium lights were turned off on them at the old stadium a couple of years back! Oh I just love hating JMU!

Wofford is a school of 1350 undergrads yet we have a stadium that seats 13k. You (the University of Richmond) should be able to do better simply because you have 2-3x as many students as well as a more prestigious program, it's that simple.

I'm not going to say anything bad about your stadium, because it's a great one. But let's not kid ourselves -- the fact that it was built by a Wofford alum who happened to own an NFL team and who happened to want said team to hold training camp there had a TINY bit to do with the size of the stadium, wouldn't you agree?

As soon as one of our grads buys the Redskins, we'll expand to a 6-tiered, 40,000 seat stadium.

Actually the leading contributors to the construction of Gibbs Stadium was Jimmy and Marsha Gibbs (which is why the stadium is named Gibbs Stadium), Jerry Richardson is not as big as a sugar daddy as people think. For instance, everyone thinks that our stadium and new fancy weightroom was financed by him, however it was not.

p.s: I don't even think the Panthers use that stadium for training camp

So in essence, No, I don't agree because the premise is false.
