Of course his approval rating is low. He's pissing everybody off to try and get the state fixed. I heard an interview with him and he said he doesn't care if he is re-elected and that he has no desire to be president. We need more politicians like him. :thumb:

The president's rating has been hurt by declines not only among independents, but also among his party faithful. The poll finds 76 percent of Democrats approve, which is the lowest positive rating he's received among this group. Two weeks ago 84 percent of Democrats approved. Obama's highest approval rating among Democrats was 93 percent a year ago May.

Among independents, 40 percent approve today, down from a high of 66 percent in June 2009.
Obama's average approval rating among Democrats was 87 percent in 2009 and is 81 percent in 2010. For independents, the president's average approval in 2009 was 53 percent, while for the current year it's an average of 41 percent.
Yep things are fine. Nothing to see here. Move along.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal public opinion poll released today shows that President Barack Obama has reached his lowest approval rating since taking office in January of 2009. The poll shows that 48% of people disapprove of the job Obama is doing as President of the United States while only 45% approve. More detailed analysis of the poll gets worse for Obama in that 62% of respondents say the country is headed in the wrong direction while only 33% believe that the country is improving under Obama’s leadership. Just a month ago, 40% believed the country was improving. The current 33% rating 'for persons believing the country has improved' is the lowest since Obama took office.

50% disapprove of Obama’s handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis which likely has the biggest effect on his negative numbers. Surprisingly, this 50% disapproval of Obama’s Gulf handling includes 1-in-4 Democrats showing dissatisfaction.

Only 49% give Obama a positive mark regarding ‘strong leadership qualities.’ This 49% rating is down 8% since January 2010, and down 20% since January 2009. Less than half polled find Obama to be ‘honest and straightforward’ as well. Additionally, only 44% of respondents give Obama a positive rating for ‘being firm and decisive in decision-making’ while 18 months ago, 63% gave him a positive rating for such positive traits as a leader. Finally, Obama’s ‘ability to handle a crisis’ which was rated 51% just last January has now dropped 11% to a low of 40%.

Unfortunate for Obama, the independent voters which gave him the winning boost in the Presidential election of 2008 are now dissatisfied with the job he’s doing, as 52% of the independent voters now disapprove of the job he’s doing as President. Also, 17% of Democrats, the highest percentage to date, disapprove of the job he’s doing.
Lubricunt, you continue to be in la-la land regarding what's happening in this country.

Christie inherited a $2.2 billion deficit and his predecessor's budget for next year projected a $10B deficit on a total budget of $29B.

Christie has been selling the message that NJ is living way beyond its means. During his first eight weeks in office, Christie was using the authority of one of the nation's strongest governor positions to cut $9 million an hour in state spending. Christie's argument is that he's going to do what needs to be done; and if the voters reject him, then they deserve what will come next.

He has been criticized for being too confrontational but Christie says that NJ lawmakers are like drunks in a bar spending someone else's money, and they need an intervention.

After reading that George Will article, I have but one overwhelming thought:

Chris Christie most likely won't live to see the end of his first term as Governor of New Jersey. :coffee:

Hey, he has a personal trainer now and is slowly bring his weight down.

He looks a lot better today than he did when he was running for office last year.

PS -- He delivered a budget -- balanced -- two days early and which erased the nearly $11B deficit which was projected for last year.

I saw that video of him responding to that whining teacher about a week ago and became an instant fan. Exactly. If you don't think you're getting adequately compensated you have the option of leaving.

I have two sisters who are teachers and I think they're both very dedicated. But I really get tired of this thing of trying to make teachers out to be something they are not in general. Frankly, my belief is that an awful lot of teachers are people who went to college looking for what degree they could get to ensure having a job when they weren't intelligent enough to handle majors such as engineering, pre med, etc.

This thing of acting like all teachers are these noble people who could've done something else but sacrificed in order to dedicate themselves to the education of our children is, I think, total nonsense.

And even if I'm wrong, if you don't want to get paid what a teacher gets paid, don't be a teacher. Don't go to college in order to take a job everybody knows doesn't pay top salary then bitch about not getting top salary when you get a job.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

JSO, I think there ARE teachers who could have done something else, but chose to teach instead. My ex-wife, for example, was a straight-A HS student, and a straight-A college student....she could have majored in just about anything she wanted, but chose special education. Granted, she ended up in jail 8-) but she was smart enough to do just about anything she wanted.

But I agree in principal to your point....those that can, do. Those that can't....teach. :coffee: :coffee:

JSO, that teacher was a laugh riot. She starts by complaining that teachers don't get fairly compensated for their education and experience. So Christie says that you knew what the payscale was when you became a teacher, and if you don't feel you make enough, do something else. To which she responds that she teaches because she loves it -- which begs the question of why is she complaining about her pay then?

I'd hate to think my kids are being taught logic like that.

Considering the logic our politicians use, should we expect teachers to be any different? :dunce: :dunce:
