Nice to have an FCS/CAA football team in Atlanta. So far they are getting pretty good coverage in the local press and hopefully with some success will make more people in ATL aware of FCS. It they play on a weekend when ASU gets a bye I'll difinately attend a game at the Dome.

Good luck.

Wow, someone is delusional. I give GaSt of 50-50 chance of scoring.
Just wondering and this is an honest question, have you followed much of GSU starting up their program? If not, I really dont blame you at all but it looks like GSU will have more than a decent team this year. I would not be the least bit suprised if they tie our record for best record for a start-up program. ODU fans also have begun to realize themselves this will be no easy game when they come Foreman during the season. I think they'll have a winning record in their first year.

I think there's probably an 80/20 chance that GaSt will beat ODU soundly. When you have a coach with as spotless a record, sharp an intellect, and magical a personality as Bill Curry it's like shooting fish in a barrel. I can't confirm it, but I have sources that have informed me that Bill Curry has government clearance to review Afghanistan war strategy with David Petraeus. I mean, that is how much this guy is respected...

LMAO LOUD!!!! This is the funniest post I have read in a week. But Curry does elicit that "Is this guy for real???" reaction. The idea of being an honest guy who looks you in the eye and shakes your hand firmly and does what he promises he will do....what a concept?

I would say 50-50 for ODU because its in Norfolk and will of course be a sellout. It's their homecoming so there will be very few GSU fans in attendance. I think they will be tougher than USA for sure. But the first three weeks of the season will determine quite a lot.

On a personal local note, something I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime; from the cover of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Sports Section....

I have other connections DEEP in the Atlanta Braves organization. I've been told that one of the main reasons Bobby Cox was retiring this year was because he couldn't take the media pressure of having to compete with Bill Curry's inevitable success. Cox however, isn't shy about admitting that he already has his season tickets for Panther Football.

Petit gives $1.5M to GSU football

Georgia State University alumnus and Atlanta businessman Parker H. “Pete” Petit has made a $1.5 million pledge to help build the GSU Football Practice Complex.

Petit’s donation is the largest ever made to GSU athletics. His name already graces GSU’s science park -- The Parker H. Petit Science Center -- and he chairs the J. Mack Robinson College of Business board of advisors at the university.

Petit earned his MBA from GSU and is chairman and CEO of MiMedx Group Inc.

“I believe that having football at Georgia State University will provide numerous benefits for the students and the university,” Petit said in a statement. “Under Coach Bill Curry, Panther football will add a new dimension to the excitement and enthusiasm that students will feel about their university experience.”
