Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
One of the results of the limited seating capacity (8700) of Robins Stadium that many have not thought about, or at least expressed in posts, is the affect it has for those UR fans who want to go to the games, but cannot get tickets! UR announced that single game tickets would be available Aug 1st. Well, when I inquired on Aug 1st I was told that all home games are sold out! While I am glad that the Spiders will be playing on campus for the first time in over 80 years, it is a shame that I will not be able to see any games in person! At least for now, unless you are a member of the Spider club or a previous season ticket holder, you can forget going to any Richmond home games! While it will be good that the Barneys and Indians will not be able to invade with their hords, the downside is that more UR fans will not be able to invade their home turf! Hopefully, Robins Stadium expansion to at least 15,000 may not be too far off in the future

Welcome to the life of a Montana fan. If you are not a season ticket holder about the only way to get a ticket is from some one else selling you one of theirs.

You know, you guys would have some more room if you hadn't built that track around the field.
(And why is there an ad for Zach Wamp on this site? I know they're automatically generated, but he needs help to win, but he's lookin' for love in all the wrong places here.)

Wait. What? I heard that UR built it for football conditioning purposes...is that not accurate?
In all seriousness, are they alotting more seats for student tickets in the hope that the on-campus facility draws more students?

If you would have been paying attention over the last 4-5 years, getting tickets would not be an issue. 4,000 other people didn't have this problem. I've got my 2, as do 17 other friends sitting in the same section.
Re: Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
The entire temporary endzone seating will be student seating - about 1,600 seats. I've heard that our Pres wants to make a ticket available for all students for the opener - whether that will happen or not - I don't know.mcveyrl wrote:ur2K wrote:

Re: Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
Somebody mentioned that the lower level seats on the side would be student seating. Do you know if that's the case? I guess it would make one side more difficult noise-wise if all the students were on one end...ur2K wrote:The entire temporary endzone seating will be student seating - about 1,600 seats. Not the case, they'll be in the endzone, in front of the scoreboard in seasonal bleachers. Not sure where the extras will be for the first game.

That's a nice little section of tickets for visiting fans. I would guess that those will be released back to the public if they aren't sold, so keep your chin up 1976.

To the poster who says I am "beating a dead horse" he did not read my post closely. This is the only post in which I mention tickets not being available to Spider fans! Maybe someone else has done so. If you don't like my post, just skip over it!

Maybe you shouldn't have built a track around the field.

This was actually one of the things I was wondering about with Richmond downsizing to a new on-campus stadium. Just wondering, how many student tickets will there be?

If you seriously don't think the topic has been beaten to death, you are a real glutton for punishment.

Well at least you guys haven't had to resort to buying season tickets for your opponents to see those gamesfutureodualum11 wrote:and believe it or not an ODU fan.BearIt wrote:Welcome to the life of a Montana fan. Re: Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
UR built or expanded an existing stadium used for Football and it only has 8,700 seats????

Built....BRAND NEW FOR THIS SEASON!McNeese75 wrote: UR built or expanded an existing stadium used for Football and it only has 8,700 seats????
I don't understand why they didn't at least go to 13K. It wouldn't have taken more than a couple more rows all the way around the stadium
Re: Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
Wait, you're telling me UR put a track around their brand new field?
Re: Disappointed Richmond Spider fans
I'm just wondering how you couldn't figure out how to get season tickets and 4,000 others could? Did you know that we more than doubled our season ticket holders from 1,737 last year to 4,000 for the upcoming season? And probably added a whole bunch of new $$ to the Spider Club kitty ... no disappointment there.jrj1976urspider wrote:To the poster who says I am "beating a dead horse" he did not read my post closely. Some people can't make all of the games, and it would make no sense to buy season tickets.ur2K wrote:I'm just wondering how you couldn't figure out how to get season tickets and 4,000 others could? Why should he be punished for the stupidity of the university/city building a stadium that doesn't even seat 9K, and has nearly 20% of it seats reserved for students, and probably about 500-1000 reserved for visiting team block?
