While both teams came in with 9-1 records, it was also the "final" regular season game for UR at City Stadium and was billed as such. Therefore 18K came out for that game. While no fans are particularly happy with the size of Robins Stadium, the City government, as well as parking issues, required it be the size it is. I, and I think just about every other Spider fan, would rather it be on campus and 9K seats, than off campus and 22K seats. Once it was built, it is a lot easier to incrementally add seats. I would think in a year or so, if demand keeps up, they will add 1600 more temporary bleacher seats at the other endzone, bumping capacity to over 10K.
If I remember correctly you had games of 17+K, 11+K, and only 3 (I think) games under 8K...two of which were playoffs.

Yeah and for that last game, it didn't hurt attendance that W&M is only an hour down the road.

I have no doubt that seating will be added each year to get to @11K. Which is a nice size for filling the stand and keeping the streamers down to a minimum.

"Yes, well, Towson actually."

No doubts. Really? You're so sure the NIMBY neighbors who limited the on campus facility to the size of a high school stadium are going to want additional traffic and noise in their community?

Its probably more likely we demonstrate "good neighbor" and good game day management for a few seasons before we try an expansion.

Well, with 8K fans...at the most noise and traffic really shouldn't be an issue. It shouldn't be hard to say "Hey look at us, we kept all of that to a minimum!"

Quiet football games, with no traffic, tailgating atmosphere SUCK if they are in 100K seat stadiums or 8K seat stadiums

Actually, with the 8,700 capacity, traffic is a major concern for the neighborhood. We've had to extend and connect some roads on campus and had to come up with a new incoming and exiting traffic flow plan to address the concerns.

Also, how many other schools had to start a "good neighbor" hotline?

Most schools have University PD/city PD patrol the tailgating area to make sure everything is in order I would have thought.

The more I read/head the more it sounds like everyone around the campus is a bunch of whinny little babies.

Add "rich" to that and you've got the idea.

As nice as an on campus facility is, I firmly believe that if you have to be quiet, orderly, etc... to attend/have it on campus it isn't worth it.

Build a new stadium just off of campus where you can build it so you can at least hold your average attendance from the past season, and don't have to quiet.

Hell, your tailgating rules if enforced to the letter of the law, don't really allow for anything other than sitting on the trunk/bed of your car/truck and drinking soda (alcohol only in 2 lots) and eating food that can sit next to you. There are no drinking games that promote the consumption of alcohol at a quick rate...there goes every drinking game I've ever played... and everything you bring to tailgate must fit in your space with your car.

I hope your rules aren't enforced as tightly as they sound like they will be. There will be NO atmosphere to you team, which is a bad thing for your team and school.

I know UNI has rules posted as well, however, the enforcement on them is somewhere between zero and the cop going "I'll pretend I don't see that" - a quote from an officer last season.

I think your stadium looks great, but from the sounds of it all it isn't going to bring the atmosphere that it should be able to.

Are we STILL talking about Stadium Capacity at UR?

Maybe we freshen things up by resuscitating an oldie but goodie topic...

UNI has never won anything. Discuss.

Traffic is a major concern, leaving Robin Center after a basketball game with just 4K takes longer than "The FCS Elimination Game".

I think it's cute, but the track is a big negative.

I would imagine that would be a violation of the special use permit that the city granted for the stadium to be constructed (would be my guess). I would hope that would happen, if necessary (unofficially).
The thing is, the students, at least the ones living on campus, shouldn't even count towards the 8700. They either have no cars, and aren't driving, causing any traffic, parking problems. Even if they do have cars, they are already on campus.
