100% with this. Sorry I kind of shot my mouth off about the initial predictions from FCS. I thought with my fan hat first and football hat second. You are very correct in all of this, SDSU could end up looking extremely good or extemely bad this year cause of this schedule. It will depend on (IMHO) whether or not SDSU's team knows how to win or lose without the leaders from last year, because I think these games will all be close. And even if they do go 4-1 or even 1-4 through those games, they will either be an extremely battle tested and a team no one wants to play, or beat to hell and **** for the rest of the year. As a fan I am 100% for the first option, but time will tell. I think my jackrabbit brethren are feeling kind of burned from the prediction because there is a lot of optimisom for this year from last years success, and they feel that that should have earned respect, which I know from reading on here for a long while of reading from here now there is a healthy amount of it, but they don't realize it yet. So to my Jack bretheren, CHILL OUT, we got this. :thumb:

(However, I reserve the right to talk **** about kicking everyones asses all over the field this year  )
If you get 8 wins with your schedule, even if you don't win a playoff game, I feel that you have earned the right to talk a fair amount of ****. That is a man's schedule.

I'd be impressed by 7-4.

I would hope if SDSU gets 7-4 the committee looks at that schedule and gives them an at large

Im glad to see Im no longer alone with the view NDSU was a lot better football team last year than the record indicated. Add a year of experience for many of our young players, our expected improvement at LB, a new QB and you have a classic case of a building team bubbling under. Worst to first is not out of the question and always makes a great story.

Read all 3 pages to make sure I wasn't repeating anyone...

MSU will not finish below .500 this year.

3 road wins last year. I don't care who they were against, we probably hadn't done that since the early 90's.

Had a chance to send the SDSU game to overtime. Don't know how you can say we didn't have a close lose. Had another loss by 10 points albeit both at home.

We always play one or two favorites tough.

I think we beat v. EKU, v. YSU, @MSU, @Ind St, WIU, and NDSU

I think we lose to @K State and @UNI

Toss ups are @Ill St., @ SDSU, and v. SIU,

I think 6-5 is the most likely. 7-4 is possible. 8-3 can happen if we have made some serious strides over the summer.

If we want to make the playoffs, we better start 7-1 and that would include wins at Illinois State, and at home against YSU and SIU. 9+ would be a miracle

1-10 is a joke.

Houndawgs right about the NDSU offensive line. I also think we have the running backs to take advantage of it.

Some things that have changed at NDSU include the linebackers. NDSU should have a very strong, young but experienced LB corps including new Wisconsin Transfer Tyler Westphal.

We have some outstanding players along the D line as well. Some are conference standouts.

The big change will be QB. There is a chance NDSU could start a red shirt freshman, Brock Jensen. We saw Jose Mohler for the last few games last year. He was workman like and effective.

Something that may spark the talent NDSU has on defense might be the coaching changes. In fact Coach Bohl has hands on.

Getting the bad element off the team is going to help a lot too. Im sure that bunch help prevent the team from really pulling together. We should see a new chemistry and commitment to the BISON this season.

I guess I missed the SDSU game, or I wasn't looking at games that were 7 points or more.

I'm not sure I'd pick MSU over YSU or NDSU, and I'm not sure how IlSU, SDSU, or SIU are toss ups. I think 6-5 is the best MSU can do this year. They may not finish 1-10, but that's the way I picked their games. I would not rule out that they could lose to InSU or WIU.

We beat YSU AND NDSU last year, ON THE ROAD, and we are bigger, stronger, faster, and more experienced this year. 6-5 my ass. 6-5 would be a dissapointment.

Here is MSU's daily practice blog:

http://blogs.missouristate.edu/bears/?DB_OEM_ID=13800" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Today's entry:

The buzz around Bears’ camp on Saturday morning was the arrival of University of Missouri transfer Chris Earnhardt, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman. The hometown product from Hillcrest High spent the last three seasons in Columbia before making the decision to return home this week.

After the team’s two-hour practice Saturday, he said the Missouri State defense is a great fit for him.

“It was a tough first day, but I like this defense a lot. I am used to a four-man front (at Missouri), but I played (the 3-4) in high school,” Earnhardt said. “I feel I needed to make a change, and it is kind of like a bonus factor to be back in Springfield.”

Earnhardt was admitted to the University and passed his team physical late Friday. He is the third Bear with Mizzou connections with the addition this fall of running back Drew Temple, who was at Missouri in 2008, in addition to outside linebacker Michael Keck, a former Tiger who came to the Bears in the spring of 2009.

Earnhardt spent most of Saturday with the third defensive unit, but certainly has the size, skill and experience to push the front-runners on a Missouri State defense that returns nine starters.

Though much of the attention was on the new arrival, the 24-period practice Saturday accomplished much more, according to head coach Terry Allen.

“It was a pretty good day,” Allen said. “We beat the heat a little bit by getting started around 10. We will get about 48 hours off before our next practice on Monday, and I really saw some good things.”

Missouri State’s fifth-year head coach said the team’s young players really responded to the challenges of their fourth practice, and some of the question marks are starting to take shape.

“The jury is still out on some of our young players,” Allen said. “But two or three of them are really showing us they have a chance to be really good right away.”

The squad did a lot of individual work on Saturday, with particular emphasis on special teams instruction. The 7-on-7 passing drills were a highlight once again as the team’s depth at wide receiver continues to push the talented defensive secondary. The 11-on-11 situational drills were also impressive, including a great diving catch over the middle by junior receiver Jermaine Saffold.

Defensively, nose tackle Tevan Ferguson was hobbled by a sore quad, which opened the door for Mikel Ruder and newcomer Eric Pearce to get some additional snaps with the first team unit. This additional depth and the arrival of Earnhardt make Allen optimistic if everyone continues to progress and learn.

“Chris is a great addition for us,” Allen said. “He adds depth at that position. He has to learn our defense and learn his responsibilities, and we’ll see where that takes him.”

The Bears will be off Sunday and will resume with a 10 a.m. practice on Monday morning before beginning two-a-days on Tuesday.

So YSU, WIU, NDSU, and Ind State can pull upsets but MSU can't? MSU is not that far behind UNI, SIU, and SDSU. Nor is Ind State and WIU that close to MSU. I'll give you the possibility of YSU and maybe NDSU pulling the upset.

I don't care who you beat last year. This is 2010. YSU should be much improved(won't be hard) and NDSU fell apart last year.

6-5 might be a dissapointment, but MSU football has been a dissapointment under Terry Allen. We hear this same speak from Bear fans every year and it's nothing new.

I'm a blogger because I take the time to do it. Feel free to do your own breakdown. Hopefully you're as willing to admit your wrong if the Bears fall flat again.

MSU is capable of pulling off wins that most people expect they won't. I couldn't find any that I felt very comfortable picking. I'm glad you're confident in your team, but most Bear fans seem incapable of realistic expectations.

I will definitely admit it when I'm wrong, but just tell me why in the hell a team that has won one additional MVFC game every year in the TA regime, suddenly go 1-10? I'm sorry, but I just could not disagree with you any more, and I fully expect you to come back on here and admit you were at the end of the season.

Great article in today's Youngstown Vindicator about our five running backs, who I think are some of the best YSU has ever had. Four of them will be freshman, the fifth will be just a sophomore. Like our quarterback position, we will be loaded with depth at the RB position for the next four years:

NDSU will be 8-3, possible 9-2.

I see a LOSS at Kansas and Illinois state.

Win at home vs UNI, SIU, SDSU, the swagga will be back in the fargodome this year, believe it, lots of young freshman talent hitting the field.

Back to the 2006-2007 era, where we were cheated out of playoffs, time to get back to winning ways.

:ohno: Just like MSUduo, you need to check yosef.

1) Freshmen aren't going to win the MVC this year, no matter how talented. Not even with your o line. :coffee:

2) If you finish 6-5 you will have overachieved. More likely 4-7 - the Bison still need a little more "seasoning" at this level before they're ready to join the fray.

3) Even the top tier will be lucky to finish 9-2.
