buck shOwalter

Post by 89Hen »

It might just be the opposition or a fluke, but the Orioles are 7-1 under Buck Showalter so far. If he finished the season with a winning record (his tenure) he should get consideration for manager of the decade. The O's were easily the worst team in baseball when he took over.

Can a manager really make this much of a difference?

You'd obviously not seen the Diamondbacks under AJ Hinch.

8-1 now....starting pitcher threw a CG 2-hitter last night...

This won't last and they still suck in general, but at least they stand a chance to get out of the 'worst record in baseball' cellar for 2010...

I think they've already caught Pittsburgh with this run. :thumb:

D-Backs? Uh.....NO.

We're 8-3 in our last 11 since the trade deadline came and went and we got rid of the clubhouse cancers. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

30 1/2 games out
48 games to play

So you're saying there's a chance!

O's are only 5.5 back of the DB's and are 8-2 in last 11. ;)

Only problem is they have to play the Yankees, Rays and Sox 21 more times this year. :x

The O's were on pace to lose 116 games when Showalter arrived. I'm pretty impressed.

Showalter is going to bring winning back to Baltimore. For all the credit Torre gets for the Yankees, keep in mind he stepped into something that Showalter was instrumental in building. If you listen to guys like Paul O'Neill and Bernie Williams, you'll appreciate just how important Showalter was in teaching the Yankees how to win and building the confidence of young players. For example, much to Mel Hall's disbelief, Showalter put his foot down and told the Yankees to let him go after the '92 season because he was razzing a young Bernie Williams and wouldn't stop despite being told to knock it off. Showalter thought Williams was going to amount a great big-league player and believed that Hall, despite his productivity, was damaging his confidence.

Meanwhile, Mel Hall is eligible for parole in 22 years. Apparently the state of Texas does not take kindly to men who rape 12 year old girls.

If he doesn't like prison, then he shoulda thought about becoming a priest instead of a baseball player. :ohno:

EDIT: Oh wait...you said GIRLS. Nevermind.
