Target, Best Buy Angers Gay Customers By GOP Contribution

Post by Gil Dobie »

I don't see this as an intentional anti-gay marriage contribution, but a fascist ploy by the fascist group Moveon.org to further divide this country. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Obama have the same beliefs on gay-marriage that Emmers has? No protest, because he's a Democrat.

On Emmer's website he defines marriage as a "union between one man and one woman" and he has come under fire for his $250 contribution to a Christian rockband that has been known to speak harshly of gays.

According to MN Forward Executive Director Brian McClung, Emmer was chosen by the group because of his position on job growth and the state's economy. It is the same reason that the group has been garnering contributions from corporations like Target and electronics giant Best Buy , which gave $100,000

"Let me be very clear, Target's support for the GLBT community is unwavering, and inclusiveness remains a core value of our company," added Steinhafel, who listed a number of ways the company supports diversity. These measures include providing domestic partner benefits and the sponsorship of Twin Cities Pride, a nonprofit that plans the state's annual Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual-Transgender Pride Celebration.

 No, Gil, I think they're mad at Target for the campaign contribution, and that they would be mad at Obama if he contributed.

But Obama didn't contribute so they aren't mad at him, in this case.

They weren't mad at Obama for his beliefs and those that donated to his campaign. :tothehand:

Good for them. This is the best way to show corporations (at least corporations that aren't political organizations first) to stay the hell out of politics.

....and you have the freedom to vote with your dollars. If Target or Best Buy choose to get involved with causes that go against your principles, go to Walmart or some other electronics store.

Although I agree that for some fat chance Obama contributed to the campaign they would be mad at him, the point I was trying to get across is why didn't they get mad at Obama contributors, being Obama has the same beliefs as Emmers about gay-marriage.

Obama gets plenty criticism from the Left.

Gil - you could not have gotten the story more wrong.

Gay customers are not mad that Target and Best Buy gave to the GOP - if they did, there'd be no place to shop.
Gay customers are not mad that Target and Best Buy gave to anti-gay Marriage politicians.

Gay customers are mad that Target choose to give to THIS candidate, who has praised the work, and stands behind the work of a band that calls for the execution of gays in America.

Big fucking difference.

Pull your head outta your ass and realize the LEGITIMATE reason why no freedom loving American should shop at Target.

So the GLBT should reject Target's donations to pride celebration, as not to be hypocrits, just because Target donated to a candidate with a questionable association, as if there are candidates without questionable associations.

So you are saying advocating for the death of gays is merely a QUESTIONABLE ASSOCIATION???

Sorry dude, but you are fucked in the head if you can't see the reasoning for the anger by the gay community. And to defend it, is disgusting and descipicable.

I am not advocating nor defending it. Just curious as to the GLBT donations from Target, will they be returned or not. I'm saying Target didn't make the donation because they are anti gay-marriage. But I have my head up my ass and am *** in the head because that's what I believe. Fvck U jon

Fuck you, then. By attacking the GLBT boycott, which is what you are doing, you are providing cover for Target and Best Buy.

d, you going to be giving back Target's donations to the GLBT or is that money just finders keepers?

You attacked me in 2 post, so what does that say about your arguement.

I don't believe it's a GLBT boycott, it's a moveon.org boycott using the GLBT community. Do you believe Target is Anti-Gay and supports execution of gays, or did they make a donation without doing it's due diligence? Can you answer a question without going Mplsbison on someone?

I do believe you attacked him first. Why is it impossible for you to have a reasoned discussion on ANYTHING regarding a topic like this without verbally filleting anyone who poses even the slightest disagreement? You sound VERY MUCH like Grizzaholic on the wolves issue. And yet you fillet HIM over his responses there....

That doesn't make me a hypocrite, dumbass. It makes me smart. I'm not a "single issue voter". Yes, I'm all those things you mentioned, and think the gov't should be out of the 'morals' business altogether, but those issues pale in comparison to the real issue facing the country...the fact that donks would have us merge with China because of our inability to continue supporting ourselves under the staggering weight of debt that continues to be piled onto day after day after day.

Having a government that spends ANY time solving non-existent problems like "gay marriage", "abortion rights", "don't ask, don't tell", or pouring billions of dollars we don't have into black holes like "universal healthcare", "unemployed homeowner assistance", or "cash for clunkers", or "homebuyers rebates", etc., etc., etc. while the country itself is headed straight for the shitter at an accelerating pace is akin to rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

so yeah, I believe in gay rights, I believe in a woman's right to choose, and I believe issues like these are none of the gov'ts fucking business...which is why i support candidates who focus on the REAL issues this country is facing---immigration and the national debt black hole. :coffee: :coffee:
