It is for YSU. They've had nothing lately.

We do have the signature recruit in the league in Rivals 4 star Adaris Bellamy. His goal after choosing YSU over Cincy, read google, was to become the Walter Payton Winner. Our coach says it is very possible in his time at YSU.

Saw him in the Monday Night Football last week, kid is sweet.

You coming to Youngstown this year?? Even you have got to be impressed, albeit a tad bit, with our new coaching staff and the excitement surrounding the YSU football program.

Thus far this August, the Youngstown Vindicator and Warren Tribune-Chronicle have each had at least one, and on some days, two articles about each August day of August drills and scrimmages... Got to love the press we are getting, many MAC schools would wish they had it!

Zoner,
Love ya, friend, but there is no way on Earth that The Cap'n will ever be impressed by anything remotely related to YSU unless it is a pretty brunette coed from there bent over my tailgate taking my furry sword...in her butt.

Actually, have talked to relatives in Pittsburgh about meeting them there for the UNI game. Planets will need to align to make it happen, though.

You should try to make the trip over here...

Anyways it looks like YSU is going to ride the disrespect train all season long...

I personally love it because it gives us some great bulletin board material to reminded of each and every week this season. I think you guys will see a fabulous offense, but our defense looks VERY VERY VERY weak and has little depth. We are pretty good at containing the passing game, but we have looked AWFUL stopping the run thus far in August...

SIU's FB is the best lead blocker in FCS: half a dozen carries all last year and pre-season All-American this year  . I figure we'll be looking to run when we come to town.

Haha hopefully by then we will have everything figured out. In the last two weeks, the following has transpired at the LB position alone:

Taylor Hill, Michigan transfer, was labeled academically ineligible.
Na'eem Outler was kicked off the team.
Dan Banna, a FB/RB, was moved to LB.
David Rach suffered a concussion.
Deonte Tate was banged up pretty bad.
Will Shaw, JUCO Safety transfer, was moved to LB.

Oh yeah, we also have two true freshman getting a ton of snaps as well on our 2nd team. Although we are very young and inexperienced now, in two-three years we'll be loaded with experience, but until then... God help our defense!

He left Michigan after his first August there, it was not due to grades. Considering he went to a parochial college prep high school in Youngstown, this was sort of a surprise to many fans since their academic standards are a lot tougher when compared to local public school districts. However I think this is a good lesson for him and everyone on the team... School should always come first.

Like I said....there are more than a couple reasons he isn't at Michigan anymore. I'm not just some joe schmoe here talking down a player, school, or anything like that. I'm a Michigan fan, and follow the team and recruiting very closely. There was a lot of people worried about him before he stepped on campus.

I would also guarantee you that academics at Michigan are twice what they are at YSU is almost every single discipline.

At least for the Penn State game, redshirt freshman Kurt Hess from Dayton Chaminade-Julienne High School is poised to start over Purdue transfer Najee Tyler and junior Marc Kanetsky.

Way out of he way. You gotta meet me in Gary, Indiana. We'll leave your new truck there in a Kmart parking lot. Should be OK for the weekend.

OK, maybe I-80 and I-39 in Illinois. No way is going through Chicago faster than driving south around the city. :thumb:

Check out Ron's cajun restaurant by Utica; used to be a pretty good titty bar near there too.

Au contraire, mon frere. The Cap'n is a veteran of two years of that Minneapolis to Battle Creek run and has driven through Chicago at 70 mph with no traffic. Depends on time of day. Midnight to 1 a.m. is best.

Ouch. All-American FB John Goode was carried off the field with an apparent ankle injury today.

We've already lost the starting SS for the season.

NFL scouts have been hanging around watching Dieker and the word is that they like his arm.

CAA up next

8/3/2010

With the season right around the corner, I decided it was time to start the conference by conference breakdowns.

X Southern Illinois 9-2 7-1 – Only slipping up once in conference and owning a win over UNI, SIU earns the MVFC auto-bid.

Y Northern Iowa 9-2 7-1 – Northern Iowa returns to the playoffs with an at-large bid.

Y Illinois State 9-2 6-2 – Illinois State makes their return to the playoffs with at at-large bid.

Z North Dakota State 7-4 5-3 – NDSU is a bubble candidate for their first playoff appearance.

South Dakota State 6-5 5-3 – The Jacks fall a little short this year.

Youngstown State 6-5 4-4 – The Penguins are rebuilding, just a year away from contention.

Indiana State 3-8 1-7 – The Sycamores take a step in the right direction.

Western Illinois 2-9 1-7 – Bad situations in Macomb carry over to 2010. Maybe the healing can begin.

Missouri State 1-10 1-7 – Terry Allen says his goodbyes and cleans out his office
Pretty close on UNI and NDSU. Lots of surprises this year.

It was an excellent analysis. Remarkable.
