The whole reason those stats were depicted the way they were, was to show how TJ fared on good to great surfaces (Sac's grass included) vs. the horrible grass field we had at EWU, since that is the major change from last year. The quality of EWU's playing surface last year (and virtually every year prior) was a couple notches below everyone else's (except for ISU's astroturf, but even then the footing is better than EWU's grass was).

If TJ had played the 4 EWU home games on grass that maintained as well as Sac's, his numbers would likely be similar to the games he played on turf. The point trying to be made is that EWU's surface limited TJ's ypc. Not just because it was grass, but because the quality of the surface was horrible compared to all of the other surfaces we played on throughout the season.

Well maintained grass is still grass. You keep saying his stats are better on turf than grass, which is false.


As for your point of his stats are better on good surfaces...well my answer to that is....DUH. I'd be interested to see if anyone has better stats on shitty grass than fieldturf or very well maintained grass.


EDIT: Upon further review of about 20 schools ranging from JUCO, NAIA, D3, D2, and FCS/FBS indicate that on average rushing numbers are "better" on turf than grass.... albeit not by much. Passing yards also seem to be higher on turf than grass, as well as total offense and kick return yards.

I believe the turf is glued or velcroed down.

UNI had to do the midfield logo and has marks this past off season because the crew that put it in fucked it up, and they lifted out and put the new ones in. However, I don't think they simply "come up".

They outline the the logos and then cut the turf out. Then the glue/secure the logos to the under layer. Something like that. They do not glue it on top of the surface.
