btw ive never seen anyone cook a pizza on a grill before, i wonder how it tastes
Pizza on the grill is the best you will eat. You can actually cook the dough directly on the grill without a pan and you will have a nice crispy crust. Check out Bobby Flay's website for details but here is the short version. Get some Pillsbury pizza dough in the grocery refrigerated section. You will want to have several different ingredients. Spaghetti sauce, pepperoni, cooked sausage, cheese, grilled veggies [tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, etc..]. You grill the dough on both sides until done and remove from the grill. You could have already cooked all of the other ingredients before this step. Each person then makes their individual pizzas and puts them on the grill for just a few minutes until the cheese melts. Really tasty.

Yeah I've seen the grilled pizza on the Food Channel. But the combo of lots of beer, an open flame and raw dough only points to disaster for me. That pizza looked good.

As for me, Towson Alumni sponsers a couple tent parties on the hill above/behind Unitas Stadium. It's right next to the Kids Zone with inflatable bouncey things and face painting and games. We're signed up for the one this 9/11 game before the Coastal game. Being right next to the Kid Zone is nice as you don't have to hawk over them the whole time.
From a couple years ago, my #2 is in the pink striped dress. She looks so little.

Our tailgate group usually trys to feature food and/or beverages that have some relationship to the team we are playing. For example, for the opener in Chattanooga we will feature a variety of chicken wings since the Mocs have that chicken/rooster driving the train as a mascot. For Jacksonville we will have grilled lemon pepper Mahi-Mahi to honor the Dolphins. For Elon we will have grilled Quail since that is as close as I can come to procuring a Phoenix. For McNeese last year it was Gumbo and spicy shrimp and Dixie Beer. Citadel is primed for Frogmore Stew and for Florida I will definately have to grill some Gator.

Furman is always a tough one as I don't eat horse meat and don't really care for wine and cheeze. :beer2:

Sheesh, another excuse to pull out a club at Liberty's rules. How new & insightful. The rules are in place and it may come as a complete shock to some of you but for many they are actually an attraction instead of a deterrent. If this is how you choose to live your life then the rules are nothing more than a slight nuisance at times. I went to school there back when the rules were more rigidly enforced and I had a great time. And for those of you who have been to our campus the past couple of years and seen our tailgating (any Big South or JMU fans in the house?) then you know there are plenty of smiling faces at Roccotown and in the lots where tailgating has grown into a mainstay on campus. Yeah, we know our school is not for everybody. But we enjoy it so let's head back to the original premise ...

A tent is pretty much a must these days now that they have become so much more affordable. There needs to be fire and a grill of some kind because meat must be consumed. As a Texan I am partial to beef & shrimp. I haven't tried the pizza idea but I am game. You would have to get the temps pretty high to cook the crust properly.

true. although some kids may be "forced" to go, by their parents.

and in any case, they probably know what they are getting into. and they should probably know that people in the general public that aren't fundamentalist baptists (or whatever) are likely to "not understand" and poke fun at such things.
As long as mom and dad are footing the bill, they have the leverage to do so. If little Johnny wants to go somewhere else, he can work, get student loans, etc. to pay his own way.

Here's some video our homecoming tailgate vs Sam Houston last year...it's not like this every week, but for big games, we'll have a pretty nice atmosphere in Friendship Circle...

9' x 9' is sort of the standard size for tailgate canopies. You can usually find them online, in fact there is an Ebay vendor in Lynchburg selling Liberty logo canopies here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 602_263622

If you're on more of a budget and don't care about the logo, I just saw a Coleman 9' x 9' canopy at my local Super Walmart for $99 with the exact same frame and mechanism as my UD logo canopy that I paid $229 for. :twocents:

First Up Canopy at Walmart. We have three in blue and one gold (well almost gold) one. They cost $80.

Ideally, you get yourself and a buddy on opposite corners and the frame pulls out, you slap on the top (if you didn't leave it on), pull down the four legs, and lock everything in to place. Less than a minute after a practice run.

Anyone feeling adventerous?

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail.

Next step. Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

Wasn't Jesus' first miracle turning water into wine? Hypocrites. :ohno:

Yes it was. There is nothing in the Bible that says you can not drink.

Come on guys. The reason they have a no drinking policy is so kids don't start peeing on a wall like at Delware, or that we don't have fans passed out in the parking lot, like I saw when I went to a V Tech game last year....2 hours before kick off. Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine but tell me if you have ever seen a lot of college kids drink responsibly?

Um....I've never saw a guy passed out tailgating...and I've tailgated with Cap'n and D1B. Actually during that tailgate we drank a shit ton of wine.

As for college kids drinkings responsibly? I see it ALL THE FUCKING TIME. In fact those that drink irresponsibly are the minority not the majority...however, they are used in "shock value" ads, and get the most publicity.

I'm not implying people are passed out left and right. Liberty wants the tailgating experience to be as problem free as possible and also a family oriented environment. I worked around UD for about 3 years and saw plenty of college kids with alcohol issues. Liberty just chooses to avoid those as best they can.
