Good catch!
An anti-Beck, anti-corporatist blogger estimated Beck's crowd at less than 300,000:
http://jotman.blogspot.com/2010/08/live ... k-and.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Based on National Park Service methodology, the medical officer for the event estimated the crowd at 1.5 million:
http://www.roanoketeaparty.com/how-many-marchers-in-dc/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Charlotte Observer reported that no crowd estimates were available, but that "...People lined both sides of the reflecting pool facing the Lincoln Memorial for the Beck rally. It was so crowded that many people had a limited view and couldn't hear the event well. ..."

Again, are we talking about Glenn Beck's rally yesterday or the one in 2009? The Roanoke tea party site you linked estimates the 2009 crowd at 1.5 million.native wrote:Good catch!Grizalltheway wrote:

I know a few of the folks there were MLK's family with his niece talking to the crowd. Wonder how may of his relatives spoke at the Sharpton counter rally.
Anyone know?

Nobody ever agrees on numbers for rallies. Rememer the "Million Man March" that was really the "Couple Hundred Thousand Man March"?
FWIW, I went to the Nats game on the Metro Saturday evening and there were tons of people at every stop who were at the rally. I have no idea how they count them.

You think it was a coincidence that VDOT shut down I-66 east to one lane all weekend? I think not. According to analysis of aerial photographs... the crowd was estimated at 87,000 +/- 9,00089Hen wrote:Nobody ever agrees on numbers for rallies. Rememer the "Million Man March" that was really the "Couple Hundred Thousand Man March"?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162- ... 03544.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.
The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance on aerial pictures it took over the rally, which stretched from in front of the Lincoln Memorial along the Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument. Beck and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke at the rally.
Beck, who predicted that at least 100,000 people would show up, opened his comments with a joke: "I have just gotten word from the media that there is over 1,000 people here today."

AirPhotosLive.com gave its estimate a margin of error of 9,000, meaning between 78,000 and 96,000 people attended the rally. The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company estimated was the rally's high point.
