A backup linebacker on the University of Montana football team faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to give notice of an accident after his arrest early Sunday.
Josh Stuberg, a third-year sophomore from Helena, was stopped at the intersection of Rattlesnake Drive and Locust Street in Missoula after authorities received several calls "about the bad driving he was doing," arresting officer Andrew Novak of the Montana Highway Patrol said Sunday.
"He appeared to be disoriented. He didn't quite seem to know where he was," Novak said.
Novak said he was able to find at least one of the things Stuberg allegedly hit - a fence in the Rattlesnake.
"He didn't remain on scene, and he didn't report it," said Novak, who added he was unable to immediately verify another report that Stuberg drove across lawns.
Stuberg, 21, was arrested without incident. He was booked at the Missoula city jail at 4:36 a.m. and released at 5:34 a.m. on $920 bond - $685 for misdemeanor DUI and $235 for misdemeanor failure to give notice. He's scheduled for an initial appearance before Missoula Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Attempts on Sunday to reach Grizzly head coach Robin Pflugrad were unsuccessful.
Stuberg was signed by former coach Bobby Hauck's staff in 2008 after a two-time all-state career at Helena High, where he led Class AA with touchdowns as a junior. He redshirted at UM in '08 and played in 13 games last season, starting the season opener against Western State and recording 32 tackles, an interception at Idaho State, and a fumble recovery in UM's FCS quarterfinal win over Stephen F. Austin.

Its sad that this kind of behavior is common place now on our team and the "good fans" support it, look away and make up excuses.
Its sickening behavior but its the norm in the Nation.

True, but it pales in comparison to your every day behavior...ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:Its sad that this kind of behavior is common place now on our team and the "good fans" support it, look away and make up excuses.

So true. What a joke of a program. Gain one from prison & lose another to DUI. As soon as somebody gets popped for dealing, we know it's another banner year for the Griz.cats2506 wrote:Now football season can begin
