PC's Trick Play at Wake Forest
PC's Trick Play at Wake Forest
I know they got their brains beat in [and they probably will next week also] but PC got #1 on ESPN's Top 10. The play went something like this:
1. QB turns to his left to throw a lateral pass to his receiver. The pass intentionally bounces on the turf into the hands of the receiver.
2. The receiver acts like the ball is down and he isn't going to go anywhere.
3. Three WF defenders pull up wrongly thinking the play is over.
4. The receiver throws the ball 30 yds down the field to another wide open receiver who takes it to the house.
WF really looked stupid on this play. But, I don't understand why PC would show this play to the whole world in a game they couldn't possibly win. Here's hoping GW's coaches saw it.

That's exactly why they did it. It was a meaningless game and a very risky play. Why not have some fun while getting your butt kicked?elcid83 wrote:I know they got their brains beat in [and they probably will next week also] but PC got #1 on ESPN's Top 10. The play went something like this:

Plus they derive a tad bit of satisfaction knowing that WF players are getting their asses chewed on for not playing to the whistle.UNI31f wrote:That's exactly why they did it. Thanks for the link, and the play was perfectly set up - I'm betting Grobe will have my Deacs running all day today.kuntryboimike wrote:AHAHAHA! Re: PC's Trick Play at Wake Forest
I thought that was HS footage until I saw the ACC on the field.
I highly doubt that play would have worked on a grass field, particularly on a wet day. They would have had problems getting the bounce right. Of course, a guy who likes the drop kick probably has no business saying that....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Geez, who cares if it would work on a grass field or not? Seriously. As UAH said, it did work here, so you're right, you have no business saying that.SuperHornet wrote:I thought that was HS footage until I saw the ACC on the field.

Re: PC's Trick Play at Wake Forest
Not only was it a pretty cool play to run, but the fact that it worked and resulted in a TD is even better. Congrats to fellow Big South Member PC Blue Hose who probably received more exposure by executing that one play than they have since joining FCS Football. Potential recruits probably don't notice to much when a blow out score between a BCS and FCS team scrolls across the bottom of the ESPN screen but get a video up with some carefully executed trickery and someone probably took at least a little bit of notice. Obviously not in the same league as ASU's win against Michigan in the Big House but still a feather in the cap of the FCS because any and all coverage beats little to no coverage at all.
