The NEW and IMPROVED FCS Helmet Map
http://www.geocities.com/mr_titlest/fcsmap.jpg
The Helmet Map is finally done! Hopefully everything is where it should be, and for you East Coast schools in the New York/New England area.. seriously, can you people live farther than 20 miles a part from one another? Tight squeeze in there, but I put them as close to their home as possible, while still making every helmet visible. I have also included our new friends, North Dakota and South Dakota. Enjoy!

You need to host it on http://www.imageshack.us.Purple Pride wrote:Sorry, this GeoCities site is currently unavailable.

Their servers NEVER go down and it will always be hosted on the internet.

Yeah, apparently the map's popularity has caused a data transfer error. I'm going to have Chris host it on this site and all will be fine again.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED FCS Helmet Map
Looks good...but I already see 3 schools that are WAY off. Southern University is no where near Grambling, you put Southeastern Louisiana's helmet where Southern's should be. You couls easily fix this by moving Southern's to the correct spot, taking the Nicholls State helmet and moving it slightly down and to the left and putting Southeastern Louisiana's helmet just below the Alcorn State helmet.MrTitleist wrote:http://www.geocities.com/mr_titlest/fcsmap.jpg

Also, Florida A&M is at the wrong end of Florida...the school's in Tallahassee (the Florida panhandle), not Miami.
Finally, you may need to check with some of the Sam Houston folks, but I believe that Stephen F Austin should be on the other side of the SHSU helmet.

Yeah, I hate to nitpick after all of your hard work. But Stephen F. Austin is not locate din Austin ... its in the East Texas town of Nacogdoches ... halfway between Houston and the Arkansas border.
Otherwise, it look ssharp.

I went with whatever Google maps turned up.. so that's where things ended up the way they did. I'll work on fixing them...soon.

Fixed.
...I think. It'll get reposted when Chris can put it over here and it's easily accessible for everyone without crashing Geocities servers.

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED FCS Helmet Map
I am not complaining at all because I love where we are located but this why I feel it is unfair to compare Delaware with Montana all of the time. Yes, we have a lot of similarites but look at the congestion of excellent FCS Programs and recruiting grounds that UD faces. Montana should clean up EVERY year. They can grab every top prospect that doesn't get a PAC-10, MWC or WAC offer. They may even get a few guys that have those offers due to their tradition, the chance to play for a national championship every year and having better facilities than a great number of programs in the three aforementioned conferences. That being said I feel there should be a rule or something in place to force programs like Montana, Delaware, Appalachian State, Youngstown State and Georgia Southern to move up to 1-A or face penalties or stipulations in maybe ten year incriments. While also forcing 1-A schools that cannot compete on the field and in the stands to step down like Temple, Wyoming, Buffalo, Louisiana-Monroe and Idaho.

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED FCS Helmet Map
Wyoming is not moving down. They're definitely on the rise, as is attendance. Idaho should be on the rise soon enough.
On that note.. you mention that it's not fair to compare Montana to Delaware because of recruiting and all that jabber. But think about it.. look at the Montana and the states that surround us. Just compare population alone.. Delaware has more people in it's tiny little borders than (I'm guessing) Montana and Wyoming combined. North Dakota and South Dakota are also very small on the population radar, as it Idaho. We might not have a lot of schools around, but we certainly don't have as many kids around either. We do a fair share of cleaning up, but mostly just in state.

You can unclutter the Northeast a little by putting Dartmouth about halfway up New Hampshire's western border, and Cornell overlapping Colgate's face mask.
Or you can just scale the map like the famous New Yorker view of the world
