Anyone see the comments that russia's coach made? Something about how Russia was the rightful winner in the '72 olympic gold screwjob game against the US.

I'm sure Coach K will take that into consideration when we play them.
Yup, I did.

Mike Krzyzewski fired up by comments

Not that I think this team needs any more motivation to open up a can. Hoping for a beat down.

Weren't most of the USSR players back then from Lithuania? Maybe the '72 gold medal should go to Lithuania and not Russia.

At least Gannon got the city right. It really sucks that the Maloofs dumped the wrong team in Sac (at least in terms of on-court performance over the last ten years).

8/24 whomps. He couldn't hold a candle to Johnson....

I'm a life-long Lakers fan, since the days of West & Baylor, before Chamberlain. Durant is better than the #2 player, Kobe.

We have differing opinions which is okay.

1. Durant - can do it all
2. Kobe - can do it all, but lost a step due to age
3. Wade - close to Kobe, but not there
4. Howard - different position, but can dominate when he wants
5. Lebron - Great power player, shooting and not being as smooth as Kobe & Durant etc keeps him from moving up.

LeBron is the best player in the world, because he can do everything. Literally everything. He can play every single position, excellent elite passer, good shooter, great defender, best driver of the basketball in the game, and puts up huge numbers.

There is no way you can put him as the 5th best player. All of those other players have weaknesses, while LeBron has none.

I just don't see Lebron as being a better shooter/dribbler as 3 of the others on the list. Those 3 are better team players IMO. Lebran is a great power player, he's unstoppable going straight for the basket, get out of the way or get run over, but I like finesse where Durant, Kobe or Wade will put on a move on the defense to pop the short jumper or go around or pass more often than Lebron would.

I'm not ready to put Durant over Kobe just yet, but I do have them at 1-2.

Yup, I agree. If I'm picking a team to compete over the next 5 years, Durant's my pick. If I'm picking a guy to win a game tomorrow, I'm picking Kobe. LeBron doesn't even enter into the discussion.

Dribbler? Lebron is basically a PG, and will probably be the PG of the Heat this year. He is an excellent ball handler, and a fantastic passer. He is a better or equal ball handler than Wade and Kobe. He is a better shooter than Wade. Better passer than both Wade and Kobe. Better or equal defensively than kobe and wade, but certainly more versatile as he can guard every position.

Lebron is a triple double machine.

I'm not a Lebron fan. He is obviously a huge douche. But lets be real here. He is the best player.

All those other players do certain things well. Lebron does them all very well.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree, I just don't see him being better when I watch him play.

He's not the best player. Part of being the best player is being able to respond to pressure and LeBron hasn't shown the ability to do that yet. In fact, when the going got tough, he went to South Beach to join a proven winner.

LeBron may be the best regular season player, but the regular season is meaningless. It's the playoffs that count.
