I've always thought it was a bitch move, but you're right that I'm upset about it because it happened to my school. I agree that everyone does it at some point too. I'll give the more bitch move to SFA, because they faked injuries instead of using a rule to their advantage.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:It isn't even close. IMO it's pretty close. I don't know how many times SFA did this, but Duke took the 15 yards twice against Elon on Saturday night.
So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled SFA?

that's not a dick move at all, as long as it's not some kind of horsecollar, you want the guy to just get beat for a score?JConnolly wrote:What is a bigger bitch move: Faking an injury like this to avoid facing a no huddle offense, or taking the pass interference 15 yards when you are about to get burned for a TD on a long pass?

Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
I agree with Jag on that one. No difference in taking the interference call than fouling the guy trying to make a clean layup in BB. The theatrics (in soccer or football) is BS. Call your timeout, get your team in better shape, take your ass whippin or just don't schedule the game.tampajag wrote:that's not a dick move at all, as long as it's not some kind of horsecollar, you want the guy to just get beat for a score?JConnolly wrote:What is a bigger bitch move: Faking an injury like this to avoid facing a no huddle offense, or taking the pass interference 15 yards when you are about to get burned for a TD on a long pass?

These players should be ashamed of themselves. Only kickers are allowed to do this, and even then it's frowned upon.

I really don't know how to respond to this. As a SFA alumni I am ashamed of what happened. If this was a coaches decision I sure as hell hope they are punished, fired, suspended etc. whatever. There is no excuse for this in football or athletics. I would go rather go 0-11 and have the players play their asses off then win a national championship and be known as classless, cheaters etc. I have talked to several SFA alum over the past couple of days and they are embarrassed about what happened. This does not represent the SFA I went to. I'm thinking about boycotting the games for the year. There is no place in sports for this.
I talked to a friend and SFA alum that was at the game and he said there was about three or four times this happened during the game when there were suspect injuries. I really don't know what to say but it gives SFA, their players, the university, fans, etc a bad name. If this was a coaches decision I feel bad for the players who had to take the dive because they probably did it so they wouldn't lose playing time. At first when I heard about this I said no way. SFA wouldn't do that and then I saw the video. There is really nothing I can say. I can't defend it. I apologize for SFA actions and the disgrace it has brought. I hope you guys don't think we're all like that. Its sad we're going to be known for this 30 second clip. Too bad SFA didn't have any Charlie Conways on the team to stand up to the coaches.

Enough mea culpas, jack. It's not your fault. The coach should get pummeled by the fans and the press, however.sfajack05 wrote:I really don't know how to respond to this. yeah i know its not my fault. it just pisses me off that the school i have supported for the last 10 years is going to be known for this 30 second clip.
Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
I completely understand that, but as fans you have no reason to apologize. You had nothing to do with it, and clearly don't suppor this. Your time would be better spent email your coach/AD/boosters and saying what you have said here.sfajack05 wrote:yeah i know its not my fault. it just pisses me off that the school i have supported for the last 10 years is going to be known for this 30 second clip.
Side note, any SFA fans making the trip to Cedar Falls in a week?

I can't, but I remember the alumni association sponsored three charter buses to take students/fans up to UNI during the 2002 or 2004 season. Can't remember which one. Anyway, that might be happening again...several busses were charted to go to the A&M game.

Good fans will make a stand on what happened here. SFA has always been a good program in the past and this won't overshadow that. Hopefully it will follow the coach and not the school. I remember SFA as being a stalwart in the playoffs and a team that played with integrity so this is like anything else...a blip on the radar.sfajack05 wrote:yeah i know its not my fault. it just pisses me off that the school i have supported for the last 10 years is going to be known for this 30 second clip.
I do hope that the AD at SFA hears from their fans on this matter because they don't deserve to partake in the shame.
Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
FWIW if this happens in CF next week, your AD, booster club, and coach (if I can find an email for him) will get an email from me about it.
Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
Agreed. However, I'd be very saddened if this becomes a trend.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:Good fans will make a stand on what happened here. Sidenote Richmond used this tactic very well to beat UNI in the 2008 semis...and ESPN caught it all on tape.
Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
I pulled this from another poster on PantherNation that wsa talking about this video as well.
Anybody remember when #35 from Richmond pulled this at about the 30 yard line on the West hash mark on that final drive? I watched it over and over again on ESPN 360.
Richmond is driving..out of timeouts. They complete a pass to 35 and he is brought down immediately. 35 stays down, holding his arm. ESPN shows Richmond coach London furiously yelling at ref, pointing at the injured player. Ref awards TO, London sprints to QB Ward to talk over the last half minute of the game. The training staff did not even go to assist 35, after the TO was awarded he got up and threw the ball to the ref (with the same arm he was holding). On the sideline ESPN shows him rip off his helmet and give a high five (again with the same arm that was "injured") Ward completes two passes and we get the ball back with 14 (?) seconds in the game.

Re: So is this your new tactic when you are getting rolled S
here is a reply from the SFA athletic director:
To set the record straight, no our football team did not fake having cramps in the Texas A&M game last Saturday. We had cramps! Lots of them, especially on defense in the second half. Remember, we did not take an offensive snap until 6:35 on the clock in the third quarter.
I always shake my head when I hear about some of the crazy things folks post about teams on the internet. The incredible thing? People believe it.
Our team performed well in spots against the Aggies and it was an awesome experience to play in front of almost 82,000 fans. We were happy to be a part of the biggest opening day crowd in Kyle Field history.
The third quarter was our downfall, but we came away with a good feeling about our team and now it is on to the next ten games which will determine our season.
Still doesn't make me feel any better.
Anyways I would love to head up to see the UNI game. I was there in 2004 and it was a good atmosphere and the people were nice that I met but I'm now in the real world and can't travel that far for the weekend. This will be one of the biggest measuring sticks for SFA this season IMO. UNI is always tough. I remember them beating us in 2003 down in Nac and then us returning the favor in 2004 before our season feel apart.

I dont know what you idiots are getting angry about. THIS HAPPENS ALL THIS TIME. Its no diff than a qb spike, or a qb throwing the ball away to avoid sack &/or stop the clock. It was a legal way to stop the clock & gain some time for watever purpose they needed. If Montana did the same thing,u fags would be dck riding right about now.
