My facts back up my argument.

Villanova has already failed in FBS.
Temple has already failed in the Big East.
FBS football in Philadelphia hasn't drawn since Penn in the 1940s, and the Eagles and Penn State weren't exactly a draw back then.
Philly is a PRO football town, not college. The only college sport Philly embraces is basketball.
The FBS fans that do exist in Philadelphia are Penn State fans.
Villanova is not considered Philadelphia's school, even in basketball.
Villanova has no place to play.

What more do you need, son? I'm trying not to embarrass you here.

You still haven't answered my question about which Big Ten school is under 200 miles from Boston College?

Radnor PA to State College PA is 180 miles. The college in one town regular draws under 10,000 for football while the other regularly draws over 105,000.

Doesn't Boston College have a large, on-campus stadium? And an unbroken string of decades of playing DI-A/FBS football? And aren't they nowhere close to a mega-sized Big Ten team who already dominates the local fanbase?

It is sink or swim time for Nova. They can either move their athletic program forward and take advantage of a HUGE Catholic fan base and HUGE $$$$ coming in for FBS football in the Philly/NJ/NY area........or they can become a footnote on the athletic landscape like Providence has become. I expect them to move up and ditch Delaware for good! :thumb:

If they do, good riddance. :thumb: The "rivalry" has always been manufactured anyway.

That is fine. UD will continue on with or without Villanova on the football schedule, just like they did for most of the 1980's.

Poor Jeff, he really wants UD to fail, I guess he figures the only way Maine can win the CAA is if all the other teams drop out or fold.

I remember 1995 vividly. Villanova won the Big East Tourney and rolled into the NCAA tournament with Kerry Kittles and a #9 national ranking and a #3 seed in the East Region. Then Lappas coached his way into a 3-Overtime loss to the #14 seed in the first round game. The winner? You guessed it. Old Dominion.

Have you mentioned this to the Big East?? Any chance they want to take ODU off our hands, too?

Funny you should ask. I have been told that there has been talk in the past (over a year ago). Mostly informational in nature about Old Dominion's aspirations. My understanding was that it was BE officials asking general questions. But no specific references to joining the BE. But they did say that if we wanted to move up to a bigger conference, having an airport close will be key.

No I'm not........I have nothing to do with running the football program.

The funny thing about Nova and Delaware is this.........Nova fans could gave an eff about UD.......but just the opposite is true with UD and its fans.......they LIVE to beat Nova! To Nova fans, UD fans are like those irritating gnats that buzz around your head and you can't seem to get rid of........

Man, too bad it's not April 1st. A "Delaware Football Also Gets Big East Invite" thread would be hilarious right about now.

Gosh, if anyone knows how to make a fake website that looks legit, can write a somewhat convincing fake press release quoting KC Keeler and UD AD Bernard Muir and President Patrick Harker, and then could post the link in a totally serious manner over on GoHens to see the reactions, it'd be priceless.

When I was at UD Villanova didn't even have a football program, so I really don't care if UD and Villanova play each other or not.

When I was a kid I lived in Conn., my parents both went to UConn and my father used to take me to UConn basketball games, as a result, I am a huge UConn fan - and Big East fan. I think Villanova joining the Big East may help the conference, hence my interest.

I know that you are trying to ruffle some BlueHen feathers, but you are just making yourself look stupid. If Villanova moves up to FBS UD will just replace them on the schedule with another opponent and most UD fans won't notice or care.

93 said it right; the UD - Villanova rivalry is a forced rivalty that can be easily replaced by another school.

If anything, it was a pretty big one-way rivalry. UD fans did and do love to hate nova. nova fans are the same, the problem is, there are so few of them right now for football. The big rivalry was always UD-Temple back in the day. nova was a big game, but it paled in comparison to that game.
