Bullshit. Colonialism in the "New World." Most death, destruction, misery, corruption, inefficiency, and dysfunction in the history of the world.

And, "anti-colonial" is pretty **** broad, nativist. We were founded by an anti-colonial rebellion.

As you well know, skelly, we are talking about the communist-inspired and paid-for post WWII anti-colonial spasms of which the elder Obama was an integral part and during which the Dutch, British and French lost their overseas colonies. The violent and bloody post-independence India-Pakistan split is only one example of extreme and violent post-colonial dysfunction. Rwanda is another. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia are additional examples.

And you are colmpletely wrong. ONLY the eighteenth century Belgian occupation of the Congo yielded death and destruction commensurate with the communist and national socialist holocausts of the twentieth century. The other colonial experiences were child's play by comparison.

Nice poem. Yes, I do fancy Kipling, although I do not agree with all the sentiments in the poem.

But that's not the point, is it hank? I did not say that colonialism was right, that it wasn't arrogant, that it was not abusive. I did say that twentieth century European colonialism was not as bad as the post-WWII anti-colonial third world regimes that replaced the colonial masters. Pretty simple.

So they are better off being governed by the West instead.

I think the point is that you can't, no matter how well intentioned, reengineer civilization how it evolved. Ideally, every country would use it's own resources to build up its own people's economy and quality of life to match our own. That's not what happens in reality. In reality, those countires are taken over by corrupt regimes that make life worse off for it's people and we try and make up for it in foriegn aid. That aid does two things 1) exacerbates the greed and corruption and shitty quality of life over there and 2) evenually brings us down to third world status.
